The role works closely with engineering, toolroom, and production teams to maintain tooling availability, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives.\nResponsibilities include spare component planning, toolroom workflow coordination, outsourced tooling repair management, and maintenance documentation in the CMMS.\nKey Responsibilities\nTooling Engineering & Continuous Improvement\nProvide technical support for tooling design modifications, repairs, and component improvements. \nSupport implementation of Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to improve tooling performance, reliability, and maintainability. \nAssist with tooling conversions and tooling standardization initiatives. \nSupport troubleshooting of tooling issues impacting production quality, uptime, or cycle efficiency. \nCollaborate with manufacturing engineering and toolroom personnel to improve tooling life and serviceability. \nTooling Availability & Production Support\nEnsure tooling readiness to support production schedules. \nManage emergency tooling repair work orders to minimize production downtime. \nCoordinate internal toolroom repairs and external vendor repairs for all required tooling. \nMonitor tooling repair status and communicate progress to required areas of the organization. \nSpare Components & Inventory Management\nMaintain tooling spare component inventory. \nEstablish and manage critical spare component lists for high-risk tooling systems. \nDevelop spare component replenishment plans to support production continuity. \nCoordinate internal manufacturing or external sourcing of tooling and spare components. \nTechnical Procurement\nProcure tooling-related materials and services, including: \nTool steel \nHeat treating services \nPrecision machining \nSpecialty tooling services \nWork with approved suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications, delivery timelines, and quality standards. \nSupport cost control and purchasing documentation where required. \nToolroom Production Coordination\nCollaborate with Toolroom Manager, Supervisors, and Team Leads to establish daily, weekly, and monthly spare component production targets. \nMonitor work order progression through the toolroom and external vendors to ensure alignment with production priorities. \nIdentify workflow inefficiencies and support continuous improvement initiatives to improve repair lead time and tooling availability. \nOutsourced Tooling Repair Management\nCoordinate external suppliers for tolling repairs, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement projects. \nMaintain outsource tracking, including: \nWork order status \nVendor labor hours \nRepair timelines and completion status. \nVendor quality and budgetary requirements are met. \nIncoming inspections as required \nMaintenance Systems & Work Order Management\nManage tooling work orders in CMMS and other supporting software. \nTrack tooling repair history, spare component usage, and maintenance activities. \nMaintain documentation and reporting related to tooling, maintenance and outsourcing. \nVendor & Supplier Development\nMaintain relationships with external tooling vendors and repair facilities. \nSupport supplier performance evaluation and improvement initiatives. \nIdentify opportunities to improve lead times, cost efficiency, and service quality. \nKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)\nTooling uptime and production support response time \nTool repair turnaround time \nSpare component availability \nReduction in emergency tooling failures \nTooling maintenance cost control to budget \nVendor scorecard \nLead and support CI initiatives focused on tooling reliability, downtime reduction, and toolroom process efficiency. \nIdentify opportunities for tooling standardization, spare component optimization, and repair process improvements. \nRequired Skills\nStrong understanding of die casting and stamping tool tooling. \nKnowledge of tool materials, tooling applications, heat treatment, and machining processes \nExperience with tooling repair, preventive maintenance, and spare component management \nAbility to interpret tooling prints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications \nFamiliarity with CMMS systems (Megamation or similar maintenance software) \nKnowledge of inventory management and procurement processes \nStrong coordination and communication skills between engineering, production, and vendors \nProblem-solving and troubleshooting capability for tooling-related production issues \nUnderstanding of continuous improvement methods (Lean Manufacturing, CI
