You’ll take on repairs of low to medium complexity with support from senior technicians, a service engineer, and manufacturer technical resources - and you’ll help with instrument startup, shutdown, and quality control. You’ll report to the Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nTroubleshoot and repair OEM and quality control laboratory instruments of low to medium complexity, following work instructions and drawing on senior technicians, the service engineer, or manufacturer resources when needed.\nPerform instrument calibration and standardization in accordance with work instructions.\nCoordinate visits from manufacturer field service representatives for repairs and maintenance that can’t be done in-house or are covered under a service agreement.\nPerform incoming inspection and testing on new OEM instruments.\nAssist with new instrument installation, validation, and software upgrades.\nSupport instrument technicians with startup, shutdown, quality control, reagent exchange, and routine maintenance.\nDocument instrument tasks accurately and on time - in manual records and the computer applications we use for data storage.\nReport instrument performance information to QC instrument management and other appropriate personnel.\nTake on other duties as assigned by Quality Control management.\nWHAT YOU’LL BRING\nHigh school diploma or GED, with relevant experience.\nProficiency running tests on, and understanding the function of, clinical laboratory instruments such as hematology, chemistry, molecular, body fluid, and flow cytometry instruments.\nA fundamental understanding of quality systems.\nProficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.\nThe ability to follow documents and procedures carefully while working efficiently.\nHELPFUL EXPERIENCE\nAssociate or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.\nThe ability to quickly learn other computer programs used to carry out department tasks.\nWHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE\nAccountability - you take responsibility for your work, anticipate and prevent problems, stay on schedule, and follow safety and PPE (personal protective equipment) protocols.\nCustomer Focus - you understand what internal and external customers need, respond promptly, and consistently deliver what the team expects.\nProfessionalism - you bring a positive attitude, follow organizational policies and practices, and hold yourself to high ethical standards.\nQuality Orientation - you set a high bar for your own work, follow procedures, and look for ways to keep improving.\nTeam Focus - you collaborate generously, share knowledge, keep learning, and step in to help when the team is challenged.\nTRAVEL & WORK ENVIRONMENT\nThis is a laboratory-based role in a climate-controlled biological and chemical laboratory, with occasional short periods in cold walk-in coolers. You’ll wear required clean room clothing and protective equipment (lab coats, hair bonnets, and beard covers as applicable, plus masks, gloves, or face shields) for up to two and a half hours at a time. No travel is expected for this role.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nThis is light-duty laboratory work: occasional lifting/moving up to 30 lbs and frequent up to 5 lbs, along with standing for up to two and a half hours at a time, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, fingering, and grasping.
