Join us!\nSpecial Education Teacher is the teacher of record for their students and provides instruction, support and guidance and manages the learning process focusing on self-contained and ALT students’ individual needs as defined by each student’s Individual Education Program (IEP). This role is also responsible for progress monitoring on goals and service logs as required in serving special education students and for all compliance documents required in serving self-contained and ALT students.\nEssential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.\nCollaborate with parents and colleagues to manage coarse goals, curriculum, and materials that enhance the learning experience;\n\nManager to create compliant IEP’s, progress reports and other state specific required special education documentation;\n\nParticipate and provide input for collaborative special education meetings such as annual IEP meetings;\n\nActively participate in Professional Learning Communities (or professional development);\n\nProvide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students;\n\nAnalyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed;\n\nParticipate in data analysis meetings to monitor student growth;\n\nCollect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals and objectives;\n\nDocument all contact with parents, collaborations with general education teachers, and interventions with students;\n\nUsing provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities such as assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text;\n\nProvide special education services to students; support general education teachers and parents with student accommodations to promote the attainment of IEP goals;\n\nEnsure inclusion and success of student in the general education classroom;\n\nProvide personalizing learning for all students;\n\nDemonstrate a belief in all students’ ability to succeed and meet high expectations;\n\nMaintain grade book ensuring student academic integrity, provide input for student placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress;\n\nPrepare students for high stakes standardized tests;\n\nUnderstand that a primary responsibility is to establish and maintain positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with and responds to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner;\n\nSupport learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues, as well as basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment that is in line with academy policies and procedures;\n\nSupport in-person student testing.\n\nSupervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.\nOTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nAbility to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions\n\nReceptive to receiving coaching on a regular basis with administrators\n\nAbility to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes\n\nProficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; PowerPoint\n\nAbility to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms\n\nStrong written/verbal communication skills\n\nAbility to travel up to 20% of the time to support in-person student testing, attend professional development or other travel as required by the school\n\nAbility to clear required background check\n\nDesired Qualifications:\nExperience working in with self-contained and ALT students in the proposed age group\n\nExperience supporting adults and children in the use of technology\n\nExperience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment\n\nExperience with online learning platform\n\nWork Environment:\nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
