Services are provided in accordance with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The O&M Specialist will collaborate with virtual school teams to support students’ travel skills, independence, safety, and access across home, school, and community environments.This is an Independent Consultant position (1099).\nResidency Requirements: Must reside in the U.S.\nCompensation $60-90/hr.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential duties.\n- Provide in-person O&M assessments and direct services per IEP requirements.\n- Communicate with parents, teachers, and students to develop consistent service schedules.\n- Develop IEP goals relevant to the educational setting\n- Teach travel skills including sensory efficiency, cane techniques, orientation strategies, and environmental awareness.\n- Provide appropriate accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology recommendations to school staff.\n- Maintain compliance with state, and school regulations.\n- Maintain accurate documentation including service logs and progress reports.\n- Collect data to track progress toward IEP goals.\n- Provide training and guidance to families and staff.\n- Participate in IEP meetings and school team activities.\n- Maintain a professional work environment and dependable schedule.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nThis position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.\nMINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\n- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist.\nCertificates and Licenses:\n- Valid state certification in Orientation & Mobility as required by the state department of education\nDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS\n- Ability to work independently with consistent availability during typical school hours.\n- Experience supporting students in virtual settings.\n- Familiarity with assistive technology used by students with visual impairments.\n- Strong organization and communication skills.\n- Ability to travel for face-to-face O&M services.\n- Proficiency with basic computer systems such as MS365\n- Ability to pass background checks.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nRequires regular travel to provide face-to-face services and remote administrative work from a professional home office.\nThis is an Independent Consultant position (1099), open to residents of all 50 states and D.C.\nOTHER DUTIES\nThis description is not all-inclusive.
