We partner across Finance, Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales, Legal, Tax, Treasury, and Internal Audit to understand Stripe’s products and operations, resolve complex financial issues, and maintain a strong control environment.\nWe are hiring four Controllership Interns, with one role on each of the following teams: Accounts Receivable (AR), Controls, Product Accounting, and Corporate Accounting. In any placement, you’ll work with experienced teammates and cross-functional partners on meaningful accounting, data, systems, controls, or process-improvement work.\n Accounts Receivable (AR) supports invoicing, collections, cash application, and related financial operations through scalable, accurate, and auditable processes.\nControls supports Stripe’s internal-control environment by documenting and assessing processes, identifying risks, supporting control testing, and helping teams design sustainable improvements.\nProduct Accounting supports Stripe’s products by understanding their financial-data flows, evaluating accounting implications, and developing scalable processes\nCorporate Accounting supports Stripe’s close, financial reporting, corporate accounting processes, and control environment\nWhat you’ll do\nWe’re looking for graduate students who want to deliver outsized impact while accelerating their growth in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You’ll apply classroom learning to important accounting and financial-data problems at an industry leader in fintech.\nYou’ll support meaningful work with an impact on Stripe and its users, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders. Depending on your placement, you may:\nSupport core Controllership activities based on your placement, including accounts receivable operations, monthly and quarterly close, financial reporting, product accounting, or internal controls\nPrepare or support journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, variance analysis, and other accounting deliverables\nAnalyze large financial and operational datasets using Google Sheets, SQL, AI tools, or other systems to identify unusual activity, data-quality issues, reconciliation breaks, control gaps, or operational trends\nSupport invoicing, collections, cash application, or related order-to-cash processes, where relevant to your placement\nResearch accounting questions and prepare clear supporting documentation under the guidance of experienced accountants\nAssist with the design, documentation, testing, and improvement of accounting processes and internal controls\nSupport financial reporting, management analysis, and internal or external audit requests\nPartner with stakeholders across Accounting, Finance, Product, Operations, Engineering, Sales, Legal, Tax, Treasury, and Internal Audit to understand business activities and resolve issues\nDrive continuous process improvement, standardization, simplification, automation, and reporting enhancements\nComplete and present a case study or scoped project to your team and the broader Controllership organization\nWho you are\nWe’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.\nMinimum requirements\nCurrently enrolled at an accredited university pursuing a master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, Business, or a related field\nCoursework, a project, or practical experience demonstrating a foundational understanding of accounting principles and financial statements\nStrong knowledge of Google Workspace or Microsoft Office tools, including experience analyzing large datasets\nExperience using SQL to query, analyze, and validate data through coursework, projects, or practical work\nExcellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to bring structure to ambiguous opportunities in a fast-moving environment\nA self-starter who can drive results, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines\nA solution-oriented mindset and enthusiasm for establishing best practices\nAbility to build strong, collaborative working relationships with business partners\nPreferred qualifications\nCoursework or experience in Intermediate Accounting, audit, technical accounting, information systems, or data analytics\nExperience with Python, data visualization, or dashboarding tools such as Power BI or Tableau\nFamiliarity with an ERP, financial-reporting, or workflow-automation tool\nExperience using AI for financial analysis or process improvement\nInterest in payments, fintech, financial infrastructure, digital assets, or technology\nExperience documenting a process or presenting analytical
