The role requires an experienced and independently operating finance professional who can lead accounting activities, critically assess financial information and resolve issues timely. Acting as a key partner to Local Finance, the Polish Finance Centre (PFC), European and US Finance teams, the successful candidate will set clear expectations, challenge constructively and drive deliverables through to completion.\nKey Activities and Accountabilities:\nFinancial Accounting and Reporting\nOwn the integrity, accuracy and completeness of financial results, ensuring all material balances and transactions are understood, appropriately accounted for and supported by a clear audit trail.\nLead key elements of the month-end and quarter-end close, proactively managing the timetable, identifying risks early and ensuring issues are resolved without compromising quality or deadlines.\nPerform insightful review of the profit and loss account, balance sheet and underlying data; independently investigate variances, identify root causes and present clear conclusions and recommended actions.\nAssist with the review and quality of balance sheet reconciliations, challenging aged, unusual or unsupported items and driving corrective actions to completion.\nActively support the local review and coordination of annual statutory financial statements and external audit deliverables, working effectively with the PFC, auditors and internal stakeholders.\nOversee accounting for assigned legal entities and high-risk areas, including revenue, accruals and tax.\nEnsure intercompany cross-charges are accurate, appropriately supported and completed on a timely basis, and taking the lead in resolving any related issues.\nInternal Controls Compliance\nCritically assess control performance and supporting evidence, independently identifying deficiencies, root causes and practical remediation actions\nMaintain high-quality process narratives, risk and control matrices and related documentation, ensuring they accurately reflect current processes and responsibilities.\nPartner with process owners and the PFC to strengthen control execution, hold stakeholders accountable for agreed actions and ensure remediation is delivered on time.\nChallenge existing processes and lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve accuracy, control, efficiency and scalability.\nTax compliance\nPlay a leading role in the UK Senior Accounting Officer compliance programme, assessing tax controls and driving actions with process owners in timely manner.\nMaintain tax control frameworks, risk matrices and process narratives, ensuring risks are clearly understood and controls remain effective.\nCoordinate the timely and accurate delivery of corporation tax, PSA, ERS and other local compliance requirements in partnership with internal teams and external advisers.\nMaintain strong relationships with internal tax stakeholders and external advisers.\nOther\nAct as the key Local Finance partner to the PFC, setting expectations, reviewing outputs critically and holding teams accountable for quality and delivery.\nLead or contribute to local and regional finance projects, bringing strong financial control, technical accounting and practical implementation expertise.\nManage competing priorities and critical corporate and divisional deadlines with minimal supervision, escalating risks early and with proposed solutions.\nBuild trusted relationships across Finance and the wider business.\nPromote a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and high-quality of work across the wider finance team.\nRequirements:\nEducation\nFully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent) with strong technical accounting knowledge.\nExperience\nDemonstrable experience in a complex, fast-paced finance function or accounting practice, with the credibility to operate independently.\nStrong experience of month-end close, balance sheet control, statutory reporting, audit and tax compliance.\nProven relevant industry experience in a large organisation.\nProven ability to analyse complex financial information, identify root causes, form independent conclusions and translate findings into clear actions.\nExperience overseeing work delivered by others, including setting expectations, reviewing quality and driving timely resolution of issues.\nAdvanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets;
