Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller, this leader directs critical accounting functions, ensures strong internal controls over financial reporting, and partners with senior executives across the enterprise to support strategic initiatives, business expansion, and technical accounting matters.\nThis role also provides strategic leadership in the development and execution of global finance training programs, ensuring alignment between functional performance, technical accounting excellence, and global capability building across the finance organization.\nThe Assistant Corporate Controller is accountable for driving operational excellence across the global controllership organization, strengthening financial governance, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX requirements. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional technical accounting expertise, strong leadership capability, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, high-growth, global environment.\nPrimaryResponsibilities:\nFinancial Reporting & Technical Accounting Oversight\nLead the corporate accounting organization in preparing accurate, timely, and complete consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.\nOversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including review of critical estimates, reserves, and key account reconciliations.\nEnsure compliance with SOX requirements, including the design, execution, and documentation of internal controls and remediation of control gaps as needed.\nProvide technical accounting leadership for complex and judgmental areas, including revenue recognition, business combinations, impairments, leases, restructuring, and other emerging topics.\nSEC Reporting & External Audit Management\nLead the preparation, review, and filing of key SEC reports (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other disclosures), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and high quality.\nServe as primary liaison with external auditors for quarterly reviews and the annual audit; ensure timely resolution of audit issues and support transparent communication.\nControllership Operations & Policy Governance\nOversee global accounting operations, driving accuracy, efficiency, and standardization across processes.\nChampion global policy development, process standardization, and continuous improvement across the controllership function.\nEnsure corporate accounting policies are well-defined, communicated, and consistently applied across divisions and regions.\nSupport accounting and financial modeling for business development activities, including due diligence and integration.\nLeadership, Talent Development & Collaboration\nLead, develop, and mentor a high-performing accounting team, setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and building strong succession plans.\nFoster a culture of integrity, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.\nCollaborate closely with senior finance and business leaders across the global enterprise, serving as a trusted advisor on accounting, controls, and reporting matters.\nStrategic Initiatives & Transformation\nDrive finance transformation initiatives related to systems, process standardization, automation, and data quality.\nSupport enterprise initiatives including M&A, system implementations, global finance optimization, and strategic growth programs.\nProvide thought leadership on improving profitability, cost efficiency, and financial process scalability to support global business expansion.\nFinance Training, Development & Capability Building\nProvide executive oversight and strategic direction for global technical finance training programs, including Core trainings and FTD Academy.\nChampion the integration of technical training programs with controllership priorities to strengthen global financial governance and improve consistency in accounting practices.\nPartner with SMEs to support development of training content for advanced technical accounting topics, U.S. GAAP updates, and finance systems.\nEnsure alignment of global training with key controllership areas such as revenue recognition, business combinations, impairments, and other complex technical accounting matters.\nOversee metrics, KPIs, and reporting to assess training effectiveness and impact on organizational capability\nEducation & Special Trainings:\nBachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business.\nCertified Public Accountant (CPA) required.\nAdvanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Accounting) preferred.\nQualifications & Experience:\n12+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including leadership roles in a large public company.\nStrong background in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.\nExperience with a Big 4 accounting firm required.\nDemonstrated expertise in business combinations and complex technical accounting matters.\nProven ability to lead teams, motivate others, and influence stakeholders across a matrixed global organization.\nStrong business acumen, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.\nExceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience interacting with senior executives and audit committees.\nHighly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.\nDemonstrated success driving process improvement, operational excellence, and scalable financial processes.\nUnited States of America Pay Ranges:\nUSN: $179,100 - $298,500 USD Annual\nUS5: $188,100 - $313,400 USD Annual\nUS10: $197,000 - $328,400 USD Annual\nUS15: $206,000 - $343,300 USD Annual\nUS20: $214,900 - $358,200 USD Annual\nUS30: $232,800 - $388,100 USD Annual\nView the U.S. work location and transparency guide to find the pay range for your location.Travel Percentage: 30%Stryker Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
