You will contribute to the development of mechanical systems and subsystems, solve technical challenges, and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to move products through development and toward launch.\nThis is an exciting opportunity for a mechanical engineer who has built a strong foundation in product development and is ready to take on greater ownership, broaden their technical experience, and continue growing within R&D.\nTo learn more about Stryker’s Neurosurgical portfolio click here: Neurosurgical | Stryker\nYou will need to live within commuting distance of our Portage, Michigan office as you will need to be in the office 3 days a week and can work from home on other days.\nWhat You Will Do\nResearch, design, develop, modify, and verify mechanical components and modules for medical devices with increasing independence and ownership.\nTranslate design inputs into engineering specifications and develop subsystem-level mechanical designs.\nDevelop prototypes and evaluate design solutions to validate concepts, performance, and design improvements.\nApply mechanical engineering principles and structured problem-solving to identify and resolve technical challenges throughout product development.\nCreate and refine engineering documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and Design History File documentation in accordance with design control procedures.\nApply principles such as GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, and design for manufacturability to support robust mechanical designs.\nParticipate in design reviews, risk assessments, testing, and verification activities as products progress through development.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management to drive project activities and deliverables forward.\nDevelop an understanding of product use and clinical procedures to help inform design decisions.\nSupport regulatory compliance by following applicable industry standards, risk management processes, and quality system requirements.\nWhat You Will Need\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.\nMinimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with mechanical design and product development, including designing mechanical components, assemblies, or subsystems.\nExperience using 3D CAD tools such as Creo or SolidWorks to create mechanical designs and engineering drawings.\nWorking knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials, and manufacturing processes.\nExposure to prototyping, design for manufacturability, risk assessment/DFMEA, testing, or design verification.\nStrong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and cross-functional teams and take ownership of assigned work.\nExperience within the medical device, regulated product development, or similar product development environment is a plus.\nMust be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.\nUnited States of America Pay Ranges:\n USN: $77,700 - $129,500 USD Annual\nTravel Percentage: 20%Stryker Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
