Senior Tax Accountant - Indirect Tax

We are looking for an experienced, high energy, high-impact Senior Tax Accountant, Indirect Tax, to assist with all indirect tax matters, including U.S. Sales and Use tax, and global VAT/GST, to support the company’s rapid growth. The role will touch various aspects of the global indirect tax function including compliance and reporting, and general tax operations. Reporting to the Director, Indirect Tax, the Senior Tax Accountant, Indirect Tax will play a key role in building out a world-class tax function. 

The ideal candidate should be detail oriented, able to multi-task, have strong problem solving and analytical skills, and demonstrated the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. It is essential that the candidate has strong communication, organization and project management skills and the ability to work well independently as well as across the accounting and finance functions. 

Location: Hybrid (3 days in office/2 days remote) - New York, NY

What You've Done: 

• Provide support for the global indirect tax compliance process, including preparation of tax workpapers and calculations required for the preparation and filing of all U.S. Sales and Use tax, VAT, and GST returns, working with external providers as needed 
• Coordinate tax payments to various governmental entities 
• Provide support for the month and quarter end close process, including recording indirect tax entries, and preparing indirect tax account reconciliations and roll forwards 
• Provide support for the indirect tax contingency calculations and reconciliations in accordance with ASC 450 
• Support and implement continuous process improvements to improve efficiencies and performance; and ensure indirect tax-related processes/internal controls are in accordance with SOX 
• Maintain and monitor the tax calendar to ensure timely filing of all U.S. Sales and Use tax, VAT/GST, gross receipts tax, and other indirect tax filings 
• Provide support for indirect tax audits including the preparation of responses to inquiries from tax authorities 
• Handle indirect tax notices received from taxing authorities by reviewing and analyzing notices to determine required actions and deadlines 
• Stay apprised of the evolving Global tax landscape, including research and analysis of evolving tax laws, rates, and regulatory changes 
• Assist in special projects and perform additional duties as required 
• Establish strong working relationships with other Tax, Accounting, Finance, FinTech and other cross-functional partners in support of indirect tax related matters, as well as external service providers 

What You'll Do: 

• 3+ years of related indirect tax experience, including at a big 4 public accounting firm 
• Exposure to both US Sales and Use tax and Global VAT/GST, a plus 
• Bachelor’s degree with a CPA (or actively pursuing) 
• Strong foundation of indirect tax compliance experience 
• Experience with NetSuite, a plus 
• A self-leading mentality, embracing new technology, and actively seeking opportunities to automate existing processes and gain efficiencies 
• Ability to adapt quickly and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-intensity and rapidly evolving environment; with a desire to learn new areas of the global tax law and business

The anticipated gross base pay range is below for this role. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies. Base annual salary is one component of StubHub’s total compensation and competitive benefits package, which includes equity, 401(k), paid time off, paid parental leave, and comprehensive health benefits. 

Salary Range

$110,000—$135,000 USD
