You’ll own accounts payable, payroll and reconciliations, and increase the speed, reliability and accuracy of our numbers. There’s also a clear pathway to an Accountant role as you grow, so this is a job you can build a career in.\nYour day-to-day might include:\nOwning the finance inbox: clearing around 25 emails a day and processing 60-70+ invoices, receipts and reimbursements each week through Dext.\n\nPreparing the weekly payment run and payroll in Xero, ready for the Head of Finance to review and approve.\n\nReconciling all bank accounts and credit cards weekly, and preparing journals (accruals, prepayments and reclassifications).\n\nSupporting month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations, and taking on delegations from the Head of Finance.\n\nMaintaining the commissions register, Client Board and Practice Ignition, and keeping everything clean and in sync with Xero.\n\nAssisting with accounts receivable over time: owning collections and working with leaders on late-paying clients.\n\nImproving how we work: building Dext rules, automating manual steps, using AI tools like Claude to work smarter, and documenting every process you own.\n\nFrom day one, you’ll have ownership of your work and support to help you thrive, because we believe in giving trust early and coaching continuously.\nWho you are:\nWhat matters most is your mindset.\nYou’re someone who:\nThrives on continuous learning.\nIs humble and hungry; you own mistakes, seek feedback, and take action.\nBelieves in team wins over ego.\nWants to do work that means something, and see the difference you make.\nAs with any role, there are requirements, and we want to be upfront so you know what's expected.\nMust haves:\nBased in Melbourne, Australia.\n2-4 years’ experience in an accounting or transactional finance role (public practice candidates welcome).\nAn accounting qualification (Degree, Diploma or Certificate IV).\nWorking towards, or willing to undertake, a CPA or CA pathway.\nHands-on experience with Xero or similar accounting software, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable.\nExperience with manual journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.\nPayroll processing experience.\nIntermediate Excel or Google Sheets skills (SUMIFS, XLOOKUPs, pivot tables).\nHigh attention to detail, with strong organisation and time management.\nBAS/GST/FBT experience, and familiarity with Dext, Practice Ignition or AI tools like Claude, are a big plus.\nWho we are:\nAt StudioHawk, there are no generalists here; just damn good SEOs.\nOur mission?
