The ideal candidate is passionate about math and science education, skilled at fostering student growth, and committed to creating a positive, engaging, small-group learning experience.\nCandidates who are also available to provide after-school tutoring at the Perkins Rowe learning center are strongly encouraged to apply, as this offers additional hours.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nThis is a part-time position\nSchedule: Monday - Thursday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM\nApproximately 16 hours per week\nOnsite only - 10156 Perkins Rowe, Ste 170, Baton Rouge, LA\nStart date: on or before December 1, 2026\nWHAT WE OFFER\nCompetitive hourly rate: $18 - $22 per hour\nFlexible schedule\nOpportunity for additional hours through appointment-based after-school tutoring\nCareer advancement opportunities\nResponsibilities\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nInstruction\nPlan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Physical Science, Physics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus to Microschool students.\nPrepare thoroughly for each class, including reviewing student needs, gathering materials, and customizing lessons to meet individual learning goals.\nDifferentiate instruction for small-group and mixed-ability settings to support each student's progress.\nLead hands-on science activities, demonstrations, and labs in a safe and organized manner.\nBuild strong, supportive relationships with students to foster a comfortable and productive learning environment, while staying attuned to their academic progress and needs.\nAssessment & Records\nDevelop and administer assignments, projects, and assessments to measure student understanding.\nMaintain accurate and timely records of student progress, including grades, evaluations, and updates on academic performance.\nCommunicate student progress professionally with Microschool leadership and families as needed.\nLearning Environment & Professional Conduct\nAdhere to organizational policies, including guidelines for student interactions, professional conduct, and communication standards.\nExhibit a positive, enthusiastic, and encouraging demeanor in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.\nEnsure a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment.\nAfter-School Tutoring (Additional Opportunity)\nProvide after-school tutoring to students at the Perkins Rowe learning center, delivering tailored academic support in assigned subjects.\nQualifications\nQUALIFICATIONS\nRequired\nStrong content knowledge across middle and high school mathematics (Pre-Algebra through Calculus) and Physical Science/Physics.\nPrior experience in teaching, tutoring, or providing educational support.\nAvailability to work onsite at Perkins Rowe Monday - Thursday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.\nAbility to start on or before December 1, 2026.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with students and adapt to diverse learning needs.\nCommitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.\nAbility to successfully pass a background check.\nPreferred\nLouisiana teaching certification, particularly in Mathematics or Science.\nBachelor's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, a natural science, Education, or a related field.\nExperience teaching in a microschool, small-group, or mixed-age classroom setting.\nFamiliarity with Louisiana Math and Science standards.\nAfternoon availability for appointment-based after-school math and science tutoring at the Perkins Rowe location.\nCORE COMPETENCIES\nSubject-matter expertise in math and science, with the ability to make abstract concepts clear and engaging\nLesson planning and organization\nAdaptability in meeting diverse learner needs\nClear, professional communication with students, families, and colleagues\nReliability, punctuality, and accountability\nClassroom management in a small-group setting\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nAbility to stand, sit, and move about the classroom for extended periods\nAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and to see and hear adequately to perform essential job functions\nAbility to operate standard classroom and office technology, including computers and printers\nAbility to lift and carry instructional materials and supplies up to 20 pounds occasionally\nStudyville LLC is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
