STV

STV is a multinational professional services firm headquartered in New York City and founded in 1912. The company provides architecture, engineering, planning, and construction management services for transportation systems, buildings, water, and other essential infrastructure. Operating through more than 60 offices across North America, the firm serves both public and private sector clients as a portfolio company of The Pritzker Organization.

STV is seeking an Architect for our Buildings group in NYC.

The Project Architect is the chief technical architect for the management and creation of construction documents on assigned projects within STV's New York Metro architecture practice. The role exists to carry technical responsibility for the drawing set and specifications from Design Development through Construction Documents, ensuring coordinated, code-compliant, buildable documents. It sits at the project-delivery core of the practice, working under a Senior Project Architect and alongside the Design Lead and Design Manager.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Architect serves as the technical lead for the production of construction documents, including drawings and specifications, on assigned projects. This individual leads and develops the project team, directing technical coordination across all engineering disciplines and outside consultants to produce coordinated, conflict-free documents. The role owns technical detailing, code compliance, and document quality within the assigned scope.

The Project Architect partners with the Design Lead, who holds design direction authority, as a technical collaborator whose involvement deepens through Design Development and Construction Documents. Working under the direction of a Senior Project Architect, the Project Architect manages day-to-day production and discipline coordination for assigned work and escalates strategic design decisions and client communication upward. Meeting scheduling, workplan logistics, and the consultant coordination interface belong to the project's Design Manager; the Project Architect concentrates on technical decisions, drawing production oversight, specifications, and mentoring of production staff.

All production is executed in Revit. The Project Architect is responsible for model quality and for the integration of specifications with the drawing set. Beyond project delivery, the Project Architect contributes to STV's national technical leadership - participating in working sessions, sharing project experience, and helping build the firmwide technical standards and tools that support architects across the Buildings Division. The Project Architect also supports pursuits, contributing project-experience narratives and technical approach content to proposals under the direction of the Senior Project Architect or Market Sector Leader.

Qualifications - Required

  • Registered Architect (RA); New York State registration required, or obtainable within an agreed period after hire
  • 5-10 years of professional architecture experience, including construction document production and multi-discipline technical coordination
  • Proficiency in Revit/BIM for architectural production
  • Working knowledge of New York City building codes and applicable New York State codes
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with engineering disciplines and outside consultants through DD and CD phases
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications - Preferred

  • NCARB certification
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • Public-agency or institutional project experience (transit, education, justice, or civic)
  • CSI/CDT credential or specification-writing experience
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods, including design-build
