This position is responsible for leading the design and delivery of mechanical systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, healthcare, higher education, federal, transportation, and public-sector projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout all phases of project development, from concept and schematic design through construction administration. The successful candidate will support the planning, design, and delivery of mechanical building systems for a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects. This position will contribute to high-quality, code-compliant solutions from early design through construction while supporting client relationships, technical coordination, and staff development.\nExperience 13+ years\nKey Responsibilities:\nPlan, design, and deliver HVAC and mechanical systems for building-focused projects.\nDevelop mechanical design concepts and perform engineering calculations, system sizing, and equipment selections.\nPrepare construction documents, design reports, technical specifications, and cost estimates.\nPerform HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, ventilation analyses, life-cycle cost evaluations and code compliance reviews.\nCoordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, plumbing/fire protection engineers, and other project stakeholders.\nSupport project leadership activities, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.\nLead mechanical tasks and workstreams while coordinating deliverables across multidisciplinary project teams.\nMeet with clients to discuss project requirements, present technical recommendations, and support resolution of design issues.\nMentor and guide junior engineers, designers, and BIM/Revit staff.\nStay current with evolving building technologies, energy codes, decarbonization strategies, and industry best practices.\nAbout STV Buildings:\nSTV's Buildings Division provides integrated engineering, architecture, planning, and construction management services for both public agencies and private-sector clients nationwide.\nTransit terminals and transportation facilities\nMaintenance and operations facilities\nCommercial and mixed-use developments\nHealthcare and public health facilities\nGovernment and municipal facilities\nPublic safety, law enforcement, and correctional facilities\nIndustrial and manufacturing facilities\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license required. · Minimum of 13 years of relevant experience in HVAC and mechanical systems design for commercial, industrial, municipal, institutional, transportation, and government facilities.\nDemonstrated experience leading mechanical design tasks or projects and mentoring junior technical staff.\nStrong knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water and heating hot water systems, ventilation and exhaust systems, building automation and controls coordination, and energy-efficient building systems.\nProficiency with Revit and BIM-based design workflows, including 3D mechanical modeling.\nExperience using HVAC load calculation and energy modeling software.\nCompetency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.\nWorking knowledge of ASHRAE standards and guidelines, NFPA standards, building codes, mechanical codes, energy codes, and applicable local/state requirements.\nExperience preparing specifications, technical reports, construction documents, calculations, and cost estimates.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with clients, agencies, and project stakeholders.\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nCompensation Range:\n$160,647.46 - $183,597.09STV offers the following benefits\nHealth insurance, including an option with a Health Savings Account\nDental insurance\nVision insurance\nFlexible Spending Accounts (Healthcare, Dependent Care and Transit and Parking where applicable)\nDisability insurance\nLife Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment\n401(k) Plan\nRetirement Counseling\nEmployee Assistance Program\nPaid Time Off\nPaid Holidays\nBack-Up Dependent Care\nParental Leave\nContinuing Education Program\nProfessional Licensure and Society Memberships\nSTV is committed to paying all of its employees in a fair, equitable, and transparent manner.
