This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.\nRESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES\nObtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.\nEnsure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.\nEnsure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.\nCollaborates with the Director and Vice President to support overall department goals and objectives.\nMonitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.\nAdvises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.\nResponds to inquiries from the Director of Accounting, Vice President, and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.\nWorks with the organization to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.\nSupervise the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.\nAssist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.\nMay participate in the most complex accounting projects. \nResponsible for managing people; hiring, firing, performance reviews and compensation decisions.\nWork with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.\nEstablish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles.\nREQUIRMENTS\nProven experience as management accountant or similar role\nSolid knowledge of basic and advanced accounting and financial principles, laws and practices\nExcellent knowledge of data analysis and reporting principles\nProficient in Microsoft Office products with at least an intermediate level knowledge of excel (VLOOKUP’s, pivot table, external content, etc.)\nMust be willing and able to work with several different departments/locations and manage multiple tasks daily.\nExcellent communication and presentation skills.\nOutstanding organizational and leadership skills.\nBachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience in General Ledger Accounting.\n\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.\nReasoning Ability:\nAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
