When a Van Operator is also the Crew Leader, they have additional responsibilities.\nDuties and Responsibilities as Driver:\nSafety:\nProvide a complete pre-trip inspection of the vehicle, including documentation\nProvide for any necessary repairs, replacements, fueling, or vehicle weights prior to leaving the yard\nAssure that the driver daily log is current, whether in paper or ELD format\nAssure that the driver, vehicle, and company are in compliance with all safety policies\nOperate vehicles safely within legal guidelines, company policies, and according to road and lot conditionsQuality and Profitability:\n\nConfirm job expectations, vehicle and crew assignments, and routing with Dispatch\nAssure that all necessary paperwork, equipment and materials are loaded before leaving the yard\nPrepare residences and facilities with proper protection\nAssure that a “Parts Box” is utilized\nProtectively pad and wrap items for loading in vehicles and containers as specified in QLT guidelines\nWith the crew, carry and dolly items between the residence or facility and the vehicle or container\nSafely stack and unstack items in the vehicle or container, and safely place the items in the destination residence or facility at the direction of the customer\nIdentify and separate “Non-Allowables” if not previously done\nIdentify items needing special crating/uncrating by a 3rd party if not done previously\nAssist with assembly and disassembly of furniture and fixtures as directed by the Crew Leader\nRemove debris and leave the work site in a clean and orderly conditionAdditional Duties and Responsibilities if also the Crew Leader:\n\nCommunicate with Suddath Dispatch\nLead customer relations, make the pre-arrival call, make crew introductions, and be the on-site point of contact\nAssure that all material and equipment needed for the job is available\nConduct a tailgate safety meeting with the crew\nSupervise all work of the crew\nReview the job requirements with the crew prior to arrival\nComplete a detailed descriptive inventory of all items to be loaded, or assure that all items delivered are checked off against the shipping inventory\nComplete job paperwork and electronic forms\nComplete End-Of-Day checklists\nQualifications:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.\nMath Ability:\nAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.\nReasoning Ability:\nAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.\nComputer Skills:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, timekeeping, HRIS and other software systems used in the performance of job duties.\nCertificates and Licenses:\nValid CDL driver’s license.\nWork Environment:\nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
