Suffolk Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Preconstruction Manager to support the preconstruction and estimating teams throughout all phases of project pursuit and development. This role plays a critical part in coordinating documentation, managing schedules, and ensuring seamless communication between internal teams and external partners to support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preconstruction and estimating teams during pursuit, proposal, and pre-award phases
  • Coordinate and manage preconstruction schedules, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Assist with solicitation, tracking, and analysis of subcontractor and vendor bids
  • Maintain accurate records of drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
  • Prepare and distribute bid packages, meeting materials, and internal reports
  • Coordinate pre-bid meetings, site visits, and internal review sessions
  • Track scope clarifications, exclusions, and assumptions throughout the estimating process
  • Assist in assembling proposals, presentations, and interview materials
  • Collaborate closely with project executives, estimators, and operations teams to ensure alignment
  • Ensure compliance with Suffolk standards, procedures, and quality expectations
  • Manage Subcontractor and vendor database and Bid Management Systems
  • Support Prequalification process assisting with document tracking and prequalification form status updates
  • Management of subcontract issuance process in collaboration with Estimating, Ops, and Legal

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or construction coordination (preferred)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with construction documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Experience with estimating or preconstruction software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, On-Screen Takeoff) is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
