About the role

Sulzer is looking for a skilled Pump Service Engineer to join our Birmingham Service Centre, supporting the overhaul, repair and testing of critical pumping equipment for customers across the water, energy, industrial and infrastructure sectors.

This is primarily a workshop-based role, working within our state-of-the-art facility alongside experienced engineers and technicians. However, flexibility is essential, as you'll also support customers on-site with inspections, fault finding, maintenance and emergency breakdown activities when required.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Dismantling, inspecting, repairing and overhauling a wide range of centrifugal pumps (high and low pressure), blowers, vacuum pumps, submersible pumps and self-priming pumps, as well as other rotating equipment.

  • Diagnosing faults and recommending effective repair and refurbishment solutions.

  • Repairing and servicing associated mechanical equipment including valves, gearboxes, fans and compressors.

  • Conducting performance testing, alignment checks and quality inspections to ensure equipment meets operational standards.

  • Producing accurate service reports, inspection findings and technical documentation.

  • Supporting site activities including maintenance, installation, commissioning and breakdown response.

  • Working safely and professionally at customer locations across the UK when required.

  • Experience servicing, repairing or overhauling pumps and rotating equipment

  • Strong mechanical engineering and fault-finding skills

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation

  • A flexible approach, with willingness to undertake site work and travel when required

Hours of work:

  • This is primarily a workshop-based role, with the occasional work on-site.

  • Monday - Thursday : 07:00 - 15:45

  • Friday : 07:00 - 14:30
