This role will have a predominantly tax advisory focus, supporting a varied portfolio of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and owner-managed businesses (OMBs).\nThe ideal candidate will be within the first two years of qualifying as a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and will have developed a strong grounding in tax compliance. Some exposure to tax advisory work would be advantageous but is not essential. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their advisory experience and broaden their technical knowledge across general tax matters within a supportive team environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nAssisting with and delivering tax advisory projects for SMEs and owner-managed businesses.\nSupporting senior team members on tax planning and advisory work across a range of tax areas.\nReviewing and building upon existing compliance knowledge to inform advisory recommendations.\nIdentifying potential tax planning opportunities within client portfolios.\nAttending client meetings with senior team members to identify tax planning opportunities.\nConducting technical research and preparing clear written advice.\nCollaborating with colleagues across the wider firm to deliver integrated client solutions.\n\nSkills, Knowledge & Expertise\nCTA qualified (or within approximately two years post-qualification).\nStrong background in tax compliance, ideally gained in practice.\nExperience working with SMEs and owner-managed businesses.\nBroad general tax knowledge rather than a narrow specialist focus.\nSome exposure to tax advisory work is desirable but not essential.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving ability.\nKeen to develop technical skills and advisory capability.\nSelf-starter with the ability to take initiative and manage tasks independently.\nMotivated and proactive, with a genuine interest in tax advisory work.\nComfortable working within a small, collaborative team environment.\nBelong @ Sumer\nAt Sumer, we know everyone’s journey is different.
