In 2017, Sumiden Wire opened our 3rd PC strand manufacturing plant located in Dayton, Texas to better serve the entire US market from coast-to-coast.\nTo learn more about us, please visit www.sumidenwire.com.\nJOB SUMMARY\nAt Sumiden Wire Products Corporation, we produce and supply high-quality prestressed concrete strand used in bridges, buildings and major structural projects across the country.\nWe are seeking dependable, safety-focused Machine Operators who take pride in precision, quality and teamwork. In this role, you'll perform and support the operations and production of the plant, Machine Operators are responsible for safely and efficiently operating production equipment while meeting safety standards, quality and productivity.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\ninclude the following:\nCarries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.\nOther duties may be assigned.\nReliable attendance\nMust be able to read and understand all SOP’s related to the position and meet all Safety Training Requirements.\nMust be able to wear all PPE (personal protective equipment) properly at all times.\nMust be able to complete all daily, weekly and monthly assigned and posted 5S tasks.\nMust be able to read micrometer and properly measure strand and wire diameter and calculate strand pitch.\nMust be able to operate hand and power tools.\nMust be able to zero the traverse and make the proper decisions on adjustment of the traverse and plates if needed.\nMust be able to properly cut the wire off the spools at the end of a run.\nMust be able to safely remove, strip and load spools using an overhead crane during strander spool changes.\nMust be able to monitor the machine while in production of wire and report any problems to the shift lead/supervisor.\nMust be able to repair a wire break at any location from the spool to the take up of the drawing machine.\nMust be able to understand the wire layering diagram and use it for the proper layering and routing of the wire through the strander.\nMust be able to perform all QC tests of the strand (BS Test).\nMust be able to properly fill out and understand a Strand IR form.\nMust be able to properly pull the strand off a full take up cut it and swap take ups.\nMust be able to properly thread the strand through all rollers on the rewinder and strander dancers.\nMust be able to handle wire and strand ends safely and understand the torsion of wire and strand and how it should be dealt with if encountered.\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred\nPrior manufacturing or machine operation experience in drawing, rewinding and/or stranding preferred but not required.\nLicensed or ability to be licensed to operate forklift equipment.\nBasic math and measurement skills.\nAbility to lift, pull, push as required by the position.\nSafety and Training Requirements\nComplete all required safety training within the first 30 days of employment\nParticipate in annual safety refresher training, thereafter, as required by company policy and regulatory standards\nComply with all OSHA regulations, company safety programs, and job-specific training requirements\nMaintain required certifications as applicable to the role (e.g., forklift, overhead crane, etc.)\nLanguage/Speaking & Reading Skills\nAbility to read, write, speak, and understand English to safely follow work instructions, safety procedures and communicate effectively in the workplace\nFrequent need (33% to 66% of the time) to verbally communicate with staff and vendors.\nCertificates/Licenses\nSWPC Forklift Certification.
