Expected to be very familiar with SFP’s quality documents, procedures, and work instructions as they related to the design function.\nESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:\nDesign fire detection/alarm, clean agent fire suppression, pre-engineered fire suppression, non-water-based fire protection, low voltage/security, etc.using working knowledge of fire alarm codes.\nAdept with battery and voltage drop calculations.\nPrepare submittal packages to send to (AHJ) Authority Having Jurisdiction and subsequent correspondence to achieve design approval.\nParticipate in coordination meetings with contractor.\nParticipate in design kick off meetings.\nWith assistance from the Design Manager, a Senior Sprinkler Designer, or others, prepare project package submittals including voltage calculation drops, materials and equipment required for installation and requisition materials for job.\nWith assistance from the Design Manager, a Senior Sprinkler Designer, or others, perform field surveys to ensure design is appropriate for structure.\nAssist field personnel with design related installation issues.\nPrepare and submit final job close-out documents after final acceptance testing.\nUnderstand and follow SFP’s Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures. \nEmployee must know where all related safety documentation is at all times on each project.\nPeriodically attend seminars or similar education/training sessions to stay abreast of latest technology, codes, and standards changes.\nCommunicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.\nOther duties may be assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nThe qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications and Experience may meet the job qualifications.\nEducation, Training, Certifications:\nHS Diploma or equivalent required. \nNICET II or NICET III and/or state required certification required. Equivalent experience will be considered assuming individual pursues NICET education. \nExperience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements:\n1-2 years’ experience as alarm designer, strongly preferred. \nConstruction experience, Mechanical aptitude, basic and advanced math skills, required. \nCommunication Skills:\nMust have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers. \nSystems and Software Skills:\nAbility to operate a computer, use Microsoft Office required.\nFamiliarity with AlarmCAD, AutoCAD and/or other CAD software, preferred. \nOther Qualifications:\nValid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required. \nMust be able to comply with SFP’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement.\nPHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform Essential Job Duties.\nPhysical Requirements:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods.
