Supervising care treatment and services of client care provided by LPNs, CNAs and other staff on assigned unit and shift. Developing, implementing, and evaluating an individual plan of care for each client. Assessment and re-assessment of clients. Communicating appropriate information with the interdisciplinary team. Reporting client concerns and changes in condition to supervisor and/or provider in a timely manner.\nRoles and Responsibilities:\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nProvides and coordinates care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of client, develops and implements nursing care plans, maintains medical records and educates clients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions while ensuring client safety at all times.\nAssesses clients’ status on an ongoing basis and communicates finding to the providers timely.\nEnsures nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and initial treatment plan is completed upon admission.\nObtains provider’s orders (verbal or via telephone) accurately and documents appropriately; transcribes and reviews provider’s orders ensuring all required elements are present and appropriate per policy and procedures.\nAccurately administers medications, per ordered ,utilizing at least two client identifiers.\nNotifies providers of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies, pertinent lab results, or change in medical status regarding response to medications, etc.\nAssesses and documents effects of PRN medications.\nMaintains accountability of administration, recording, control and security of medications, including narcotics.\nCompletes admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately as directed.\nConfers regularly with treatment team (e.g., nurses, therapists, program managers, provider) regarding client care. Attends and participates in the unit activities such as therapy groups, family meetings as appropriate, staffing, unit meetings, etc.\nProvides education/explanation to clients, families, and co-workers regarding medication usage/maintenance, common side effects, client's rights, as well as other topics necessary for optimal client care. \nMonitors client acuity, census, staffing needs, and escalates coverage needs to supervisor/Charge RN.\nEnsures thorough, accurate documentation is completed for all clients on each shift and client assignment sheets are completed daily and tasks are carried out as assigned. \nCommunicates thorough hand-off reports to oncoming staff and supervisors.\nEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:\nGraduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.\nOne or more years’ nursing experience within clinical area of service provided by facility preferred.\nExperience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred.\nKnowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures. \nAbility to apply nursing standards and practice within an acute psychiatric setting\nLICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:\nValid current RN license from the state or from a compact state, where applicable.\nCertified in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.\nCPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).\nFirst aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.\nWORK LOCATION:\nThis position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position.\nSUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:\nThis position is an Individual Contributor.\nWhy St. Joseph Institute for Addiction?St. Joseph Institute for Addiction offers a comprehensive benefit plan and a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
