We manage the full employee lifecycle - from onboarding and contract changes through to offboarding - while supporting accurate and timely payroll across Southern Europe.\nIn France, recurring operational work is growing across employee lifecycle administration, field sales hiring and payroll coordination. You’ll join a hands-on, detail-driven team where operational excellence and employee care go hand in hand.\nThe role\nThis is a Working Student position supporting the People Operations & Payroll team in France. You’ll take ownership of recurring administrative and payroll support tasks, help keep our data accurate and up to date, and make sure employees and managers get timely, clear support.\nThis is a great entry point into HR and payroll operations for someone who is organised, reliable, and eager to build real expertise in a fast-moving environment.\nWhat you’ll do\nPayroll support\nHelp to collect, and organise payroll input data ahead of monthly deadlines\nSupport follow-up with external payroll and benefits providers where relevant\nHelp maintain accurate payroll records and flag missing information or discrepancies\nHR administration & employee lifecycle\nPrepare, update, and archive employment contracts and employee documentation\nSupport onboarding, contract changes, and offboarding processes - ensuring data accuracy and completeness at every step\nAssist with benefits administration where needed\nEmployee support & ticket handling\nRespond to routine employee and manager queries via internal systems and email with clarity and care\nManage open tickets and follow up, escalating more complex cases when needed\nData management & process improvement\nMaintain and update employee data in HR systems and Excel / Google Sheets trackers\nPerform regular data checks and keep Notion pages and internal documentation up to date\nIdentify repetitive steps, data-quality issues, or bottlenecks in recurring workflows\nSuggest small process improvements that make day-to-day operations more efficient\nWhat we’re looking for\nCurrently studying or recently graduated in HR, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field\nFluent in French and English - clear written and verbal communication is essential\nStrong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, especially with sensitive employee and payroll data\nBasic Excel / Google Sheets skills and confidence working with structured data\nOrganised and reliable - able to manage recurring tasks and meet regular deadlines\nComfortable handling confidential information with discretion and good judgement\nQuick to learn new tools and systems - we work across multiple HR platforms\nTeam player with a hands-on, service-oriented attitude\nNice to have\n Previous experience or studies in HR, payroll administration, or people operations\n Interest in payroll processes, HR systems, or process improvement\n Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT\nWhy SumUp?\n Work with a truly global, multicultural team from our Barcelona office.\n Be part of a workplace that values diversity and inclusion, where every perspective is respected.\n Access our Employee Assistance Programme for mental health guidance and support when you need it.\nJob Application Tip\nWe recognise that candidates feel they need to meet 100% of the job criteria in order to apply for a job.
