For more information, please visit our website at www.sunchemical.com or connect with us on LinkedIn or Twitter\nPOSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:\nDrive continuous site EHS, security, and sustainability performance improvement by developing, implementing and training on site and company EHS policies and procedures. Ensure site EHS compliance through continuous improvement activities such as thorough inspections, investigations, audits, behavioral based observations, corrective actions, and implementing best practices. Works closely with a network of other EHS professionals and plant department heads as part of the plant leadership team (PLT).\nThe Valparaiso site is a highly regulated site, featuring process safety management (PSM) and risk management plan (RMP) requirements along with a wastewater program among other regulations.\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\nEnsure that all activities are performed in compliance to local, state, and federal EHS regulatory requirements.\nServe as EHS representative on the plant leadership team and for external visits and audits.\nUpgrade and maintain PSM & RMP programs and compliance.\nComplete routine regulatory reports and filings: UIC, Tier II, TRI, RMP and others; maintain site permits as needed.\nEnsure EHS systems, procedures, and performance metrics exist, are understood, are implemented, are effective, and being adhered to.\nAnalyze and evaluate EHS performance. Develop strategic improvement plans in collaboration with PLT and corporate EHS to meet or exceed plant, and/or corporate goals.\nLead, coordinate, and conduct plant EHS & Security training, record keeping, and ensure it is effective. \nLead and track incident and injury investigations and resolutions including managing projects.\nCreate, review, and/or evaluate from an EHS perspective, process changes and MOC’s. \nWork with wastewater generators to characterize and qualify their waste for Class 1 deep-well injection in accordance with U.S. EPA regulations.\nMonitor wastewater and solid waste disposal operations ensuring RCRA compliance and efficient operation.\nDevelop and lead the sustainability program.\nOther duties as assigned.\nREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nBachelor’s degree in a related field (Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, etc)\n5+ years’ EHS experience in a manufacturing environment\n3+ years’ experience working in a PSM and/or RMP facility\nStrong expertise in regulatory compliance systems, regulatory permitting processes, and occupational safety programs.\nAbility to visualize, design, develop, and implement systematic EHS improvements.\nProficient user of MS Office products\nMust be able to lead directly and by influence\nStrong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills to meet multiple deadlines with minimal supervision are critical.\nPREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nMaster’s degree in a related field (Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, etc)\n7+ years’ experience in heavy industry such as chemical, paper, refining, etc.\n5+ years’ experience working in a PSM and RMP facility\n3+ years’ experience leading others\nEHS related certifications such as OSHA-501, ASP, CSP, MSP, etc\nUnderground injection well technology experience\nCertified wastewater operator\nPOSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Full Time / Exempt / Days\nNUMBER OF DIRECT REPORTS: 0\nTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:\nBENEFITS\nWe offer a range of market-competitive total rewards that include merit increases, paid holidays, Paid Time Off, medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability benefits, 401(k)+match and life insurance.
