Through innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration, we strive to find new and better ways to bring value to Sun Life.\nWe are looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer with at least 10 years of Java application support, analysis, and development experience. The successful candidate will have strong technical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. This unique opportunity offers a dynamic space and a chance to collaborate with multiple business units.\nWhat you will do?\nProvide ongoing support of Java based applications in Production and test environments including responding to Service requests, Incident & Problem analysis, Service restoration and recovery, Security vulnerability remediation, Audits and reporting as necessary.\nParticipate in design, develop, test and debug programs for Java services. Deployment is done using Kubernetes containers. \nInterface with other Software Engineers, Business Systems Analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions and maintain a stable application environment.\nEnable stability through proactive monitoring activities, security compliance, change management, troubleshooting issues and conducting root-cause analysis.\nIdentify and participate in continuous improvement opportunities, system renewal, stability, upgrade, and Disaster Recovery projects.\nWhat do you need to succeed:\nDegree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent discipline\n10+ years of information technology experience in Java application support and development\n10+ years experience in: Java, JavaScript & web development languages like HTML, XML, CSS\nJava Enterprise Edition (J2EE) technologies such as Servlet, JDBC and JSP\nSpring framework\nUnderstanding of enterprise methodologies, such as ITIL, CMMI, and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)\n\n4+ years experience in: ReactJS/ React.js\nContainer technologies - Kubernetes, Docker\nJava SpringBoot, SpringMVC \nWeb Security/OWASP\n\nWeb services and frameworks such as SOAP, REST API, Java APIs, JSON\nDatabase technologies like SQL, Oracle, POSTGRES\nDevOps tools - Jenkins, Artifactory, Bitbucket/Git, Gradle, Maven, CDD, Ansible\nMulti-Factor Authentication (MFA)\nExperience with Kafka and light car proxy \nPreferred Skills: \nCollaboration and teamwork \nContinuous learning mindset \nAbility to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities \nStrong analysis, debugging and problem-solving skills \nSolid written and verbal communication skills \nNice to have: \nExposure to Agile framework (Kanban, Scrum)\nExperience working with cloud hosted applications / servers on AWS.\nExposure to team collaboration tools like Confluence, JIRA, MS Teams\nKnowledge of Middleware technologies such as WebSphere/WebLogic \nNotes/Unique requirements: \nThe role includes on-call and after-hours support on a team rotation basis. \nThis role requires Canadian Protected-B (Reliability clearance) [a minimum of 5 years of consecutive residency in Canada].\n#LI-Hybrid #LI-remote\nThe Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.
