The successful candidate will bridge business and technology teams to deliver scalable data solutions, enable self-service analytics, and accelerate data-driven customer engagement, campaign management, and advisor productivity initiatives.\nCandidate with more experienced may be considered for Associate Director.\nDepartment: Client & Marketing\nFunction: Data & Insights\nReporting To: Director, Data & Insights\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Lead Tactical Database Migration Program\nServe as the technical lead for migration of legacy/tactical databases, data pipelines, and reporting assets to the strategic cloud-based data platform.\nDrive current-state assessment, target architecture design, migration planning, development, testing, and implementation.\nPartner with Enterprise Architecture, IT, Data Engineering, and Business stakeholders to ensure smooth transition with minimal business disruption.\nSupport migration of Tableau dashboards, data marts, SQL assets, and related analytics capabilities into the future-state data ecosystem.\nEstablish migration governance, risk management, reconciliation, and data validation processes to ensure data quality and integrity. \n2. Enable CVM Analytics and Campaign Initiatives\nDeliver data solutions supporting customer portfolio analytics, campaign measurement, client tagging, customer insights, and advisor productivity initiatives.\nSupport business teams in campaign targeting, performance tracking, customer segmentation, and lead management capabilities.\nDevelop and maintain datasets required for customer lifecycle management, cross-sell/up-sell programs, retention strategies, and personalized customer engagement.\nPartner with Marketing, Distribution, Digital, and Customer Experience teams to unlock business value through data and insights.\nDrive continuous enhancement of CVM dashboards, campaign performance reporting, and customer analytics capabilities. \n3. Data Engineering & Solution Delivery\nDesign, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines using cloud and database technologies.\nManage data ingestion, transformation, validation, and automation processes across multiple data sources.\nLead development activities involving SQL, AWS, Redshift, ETL workflows, and analytics data marts.\nEnsure data availability, performance, security, and operational stability for business-critical reporting and analytics solutions.\nIntroduce automation opportunities to reduce manual processing and improve delivery efficiency. \n4. Stakeholder Management & Project Delivery\nAct as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.\nTranslate business requirements into actionable data and analytics solutions.\nManage project roadmap, delivery priorities, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications.\nDrive adoption of analytics solutions through training, documentation, and user engagement activities.\nProvide leadership and guidance to analysts, developers, and project resources. \n5. Data Governance & Quality Management\nImplement and maintain data quality controls, lineage, metadata, and documentation standards.\nSupport data governance initiatives and regulatory compliance requirements.\nEnsure appropriate access management and controls across CVM data assets.\nPromote best practices in data management, development standards, and operational excellence. \nRequired Qualifications\nExperience\n8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Analytics, or related disciplines.\nProven experience delivering large-scale data migration or data transformation programs.\nExperience supporting CRM, customer analytics, marketing analytics, or CVM-related initiatives.\nStrong stakeholder management experience across business and IT organizations.\nFinancial services, insurance, banking, or consulting experience preferred.\nTechnical Skills\nStrong SQL and relational database expertise.\nHands-on experience with AWS services (Redshift, Glue, Athena, S3) or equivalent cloud data platforms.\nExperience with Tableau, Power BI, or enterprise BI tools.\nKnowledge of ETL/ELT design, data modeling, and data architecture.\nFamiliarity with Python or other data engineering technologies is an advantage.\nCompetencies\nStrategic thinker with strong execution capability.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.\nAbility to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple priorities.\nPassion for driving business outcomes through data and analytics.\nAt Sun Life, we’re driven by our Purpose: to help Clients build lifetime financial security and lead healthier lives.
