Touching Lives\nJob purpose\nThe Reliability Engineer plays a critical leadership role in advancing asset reliability, equipment performance, and maintenance excellence across manufacturing (70%) and facilities (30%) operations. This individual will apply advanced reliability methodologies, leads continuous improvement initiatives, and optimizes Asset Management systems to drive measurable gains in uptime, OEE, MTBF, MTTR and cost efficiency.\nDuties and responsibilities\nLead and standardize reliability engineering programs across Manufacturing & Facilities operation, including FMEA, RCA, PM optimization and precision maintenance.\nOptimize the CMMS system (SAP Plant Maintenance) to ensure data integrity, asset hierarchy alignment, accurate work order tracking, and analytics.\nDevelop and implement preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and extend asset lifespan.\nConduct asset criticality assessments to guide maintenance strategies, spare parts stocking levels, and risk-based decision-making.\nLead equipment failure Unplanned Deviations using structured methodologies such as 5-Why, fishbone, and RCM-based RCA.\nCollaborate with production, engineering, procurement, and maintenance teams to drive equipment performance improvements.\nOwn reliability metrics of MTBF, MTTR, Uptime and Asset Availability\nAdopt Reliability lead role in Sun’s Community of Practice (COP) for the Brampton site\nTrain and mentor plant maintenance staff, technicians, production leaders and maintenance management on reliability tools and best practices.\nAnalyze equipment downtime data to identify trends and prioritize improvement initiatives that support OEE targets.\nDevelop asset lifecycle management strategies including obsolescence planning, replacement forecasting and reliability-based capital investment recommendations.\nLead critical spare parts strategy development and inventory optimization through risk-based analysis and equipment criticality assessments\nSupport capital projects through reliability input during design review, commissioning, and startup stages.\nLead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles to eliminate waste and optimize maintenance workflows.\nAll other duties as assigned\nAdditional responsibility (Only applicable to customer facing roles)\nReport any adverse event received from customers for company products to the pharmacovigilance department / Drug Safety on the same day or within 1 business day\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering.\n7+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, reliability engineering, or asset management within a manufacturing environment.\nExpert-level proficiency with CMMS platforms, preferably SAP Plant Maintenance.\nStrong knowledge of reliability engineering tools such as RCA, RCM, FMEA, and condition-based monitoring.\nExperience implementing predictive technologies (vibration, thermography, lubrication analysis, ultrasound).\nProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), AutoCAD, and data visualization tools.\nCMRP, CRE or equivalent reliability certification preferred\nP.Eng designation highly preferred\nLean Six Sigma certification preferred\nExcellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.\nAbility to lead change and influence teams across multiple sites without direct reporting authority.\nWorking conditions\nA requirement to be sitting, standing, bending squatting and walking throughout the day. \nWorking in “tight spaces”. \nOperating on a 37.5 hour week (Days) and flexibility to work weekends is a requirement for this position and may be requested at short notice.\nGMP mode of dress is a requirement in the manufacturing areas of the plant or as directed.\nPhysical requirements\n100% on-site based\nDirect reports\nNA\nThis posting is for an existing vacancy.\nThe presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $83,500 to $104,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan.
