Job Summary:

The Senior Manager, Commercial Data & Analytics Engineering is a senior technical delivery leader within North America Commercial IT. The role leads the design, engineering, delivery, and ongoing evolution of data, analytics and AI platforms and data products that enable Commercial Analytics & Insights, Commercial Operations, and other business units.

Working through internal and external engineering partners, the role translates business priorities into scalable technical designs, governed data products, and reliable analytics capabilities. The Senior Manager provides technical leadership, oversees data and engineering vendors, and coordinates with enterprise IT and other delivery teams.

The role also serves as a key business-facing technology partner, building strong relationships with Commercial and IT stakeholders, communicating effectively across business and technology teams, and balancing multiple priorities and initiatives in a fast-paced environment. The scope is expected to evolve as Commercial data and analytics capabilities expand.

Responsibilities:

1. Business Partnership, Stakeholder Engagement & Engineering Roadmap

• Partner with Commercial Analytics & Insights, Commercial Operations, and other business units to understand prioritized business needs, KPI definitions, and use cases, and translate them into technical requirements and scalable solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Commercial and IT stakeholders and serve as a trusted technology partner for Commercial data and analytics initiatives.
• Advise business and technology stakeholders on data availability, feasibility, dependencies, risks, delivery sequencing, and time to value, while helping stakeholders navigate competing priorities and trade-offs.
• Proactively communicate priorities, delivery status, dependencies, risks, and key decisions to business and technology stakeholders and manage expectations across multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Develop and maintain the Commercial Data & Analytics engineering roadmap, release plan, and prioritized technical backlog aligned with business priorities and enterprise architecture.

2. Data Platform & Data Product Engineering

• Lead the technical design, delivery, and lifecycle management of the North America Commercial data lake/lakehouse, analytics platforms, and integration services, working through internal and external engineering partners and in alignment with enterprise standards.
• Guide and review the engineering of data ingestion and integration, ETL/ELT pipelines, layered data, data and semantic models, reusable data products, and BI-ready datasets.
• Promote modular, configurable, and versioned designs that allow Commercial hierarchies, mappings, KPI logic, and reporting rules to evolve without rebuilding the underlying data foundation.
• Define and drive practical engineering standards for solution quality, testing, deployment, documentation, security, performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

3. Data Governance, Quality & Compliance

• Put data-governance standards into practice with Commercial Analytics & Insights, business data owners, data stewards, and enterprise teams, including metadata, lineage, quality, access, and retention.
• Establish appropriate data-quality monitoring and reconciliation processes and coordinate resolution of material issues with data providers and delivery teams.
• Support governed master and reference data for key Commercial domains and partner with Information Security, Privacy, Compliance, and Legal to implement applicable controls.

4. Data Vendor & Engineering Partner Management

• Lead the technical onboarding and service management of third-party Commercial data providers, including data delivery, quality, changes, and issue resolution.
• Oversee engineering firms, managed-service providers, and GCC resources against agreed SOWs, milestones, service levels, quality expectations, and spend.
• Maintain vendor scorecards and service reviews, coordinate corrective actions, and ensure appropriate documentation, knowledge transfer, and sustainable support models.
• Establish clear accountability across internal teams and external partners and ensure effective communication and coordination across delivery dependencies.

5. Platform Operations & Delivery Governance

• Coordinate and oversee production operations with enterprise IT, managed-service providers, and engineering partners, including monitoring, incident and change management, recovery, and business continuity.
• Track delivery health, dependencies, risks, service performance, and costs and provide clear, timely updates and escalations to Commercial and IT leadership.
• Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and priorities, balancing business urgency, technical dependencies, resource constraints, and delivery commitments.
• Drive continuous improvement and coordinate testing, deployment, adoption, and production transition with Commercial Analytics & Insights and other business stakeholders.

Education & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in data and analytics technology, including significant experience in cloud data engineering, platform delivery, and business-facing roles.
• Strong experience with Azure data services and Databricks; experience supporting AWS-based data and analytics environments preferred.
• Experience designing data pipelines, layered or medallion architectures, data models, semantic layers, and reusable data products, with the technical depth to review solution designs, code, testing, and production readiness.
• Strong knowledge of modern data-engineering practices, including source control, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and production support; proficiency in SQL and Python/Spark strongly preferred.
• Experience implementing data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality, master data management, access, privacy, and security controls.
• Experience with pharmaceutical Commercial data, such as prescription and claims, patient, HCP, customer, payer, sales, CRM, and digital data; familiarity with IQVIA, Symphony, or comparable providers preferred.
• Experience overseeing engineering vendors, data providers, and managed-service or globally distributed delivery teams, including SOWs, service levels, budgets, and knowledge transfer.
• Working knowledge of Power BI or comparable BI and semantic-layer technologies and the data foundations that support advanced analytics.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-management skills, with demonstrated ability to influence across functions and communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities, organize complex work, resolve competing demands, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
• Strong business partnership, technical communication, vendor management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a regulated and changing environment.

The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $123,500 to $151,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; disability insurance; 401(k) savings plan; flexible spending accounts; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.
