This role drives execution strategy, independently resolves complex construction challenges, and provides senior subject matter expertise and mentorship to Construction Managers to ensure consistent performance across projects.\nThe Senior Construction Manager operates with broad autonomy within established company, contractual, safety, and financial parameters, making independent decisions regarding construction execution, sequencing, field resources, subcontractor performance, and resolution of complex field issues, while escalating matters requiring broader organizational, commercial, or regional resource decisions.\nThis position reports directly to the Regional Director, Construction Management and works closely with project management, project engineering, quality, EHS, clients, subcontractors, and other internal stakeholders.\nPrincipal Responsibilities\nProvides senior construction leadership across multiple large or complex projects, ensuring execution quality, schedule performance, and consistent site standards.\nProvides functional oversight of Construction Managers, offering mentorship and coaching while serving as an escalation point for complex execution challenges\nIndependently resolves complex construction, sequencing, subcontractor, and field execution issues, escalating matters requiring broader organizational, commercial, contractual, or regional decisions.\nOversees workforce coordination, subcontractor performance, construction sequencing, site logistics, and other critical execution activities across assigned projects.\nIdentifies systemic execution challenges and drives corrective actions and process improvements that strengthen performance across projects.\nProvides senior construction expertise during preconstruction, including constructability, sequencing, delivery risk, subcontractor readiness, and execution strategy.\nMaintains regular field presence across assigned projects to assess execution, identify emerging risks, reinforce standards, and support high-priority project needs.\nServes as a senior construction subject matter expert and thought partner to leadership, contributing to construction strategy, construction resource needs, tools, and continuous improvement.\n Basic Qualifications Required\nEducation required: High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience\nA minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in construction, project management, or related field required, including a minimum of seven (7) years of utility-scale solar EPC or equivalent construction experience.\nDemonstrated experience leading complex construction execution across multiple projects or sites.\nStrong understanding of construction execution, subcontractor management, site logistics, scheduling, and field operations.\nCurrent, valid driver’s license and eligibility for corporate vehicle insurance coverage\n Skills & Experience Preferred\nOSHA 30 certification preferred.\nAdvanced understanding of construction management practices including scheduling, subcontractor coordination, site logistics, inspection processes, and project execution strategy.\nStrong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural construction scopes.\nProficiency in Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and construction scheduling tools such as MS Project.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and drive execution across competing demands.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across projects and teams.\nProven ability to lead complex construction projects, resolve high-impact execution challenges, mentor Construction Managers, and improve performance across multiple sites.\nAbility to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions within established authority.\nCollaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across cross functional teams\nAlignment with Sun Tribe’s core values: Community, Safety, Perpetual Improvement, Nature, Joy, and Respect\nCommitment to a culture of safety, accountability, and high-quality project delivery, including stopping work in unsafe conditions.\n Working Conditions and Physical Requirements\nSome evening and weekend work is required\nWillingness to travel and work at project sites throughout Virginia and neighboring states as required\nStandard work hours may be changed based on emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite\nRequires approximately 10% office work and 90% field work. Construction planning is expected to take place at the Sun Tribe EPC office in accordance with Sun Tribe EPC policies regarding work from home flexibility\nMust be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching\nMust be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time\nExposure to characteristic construction site hazards\nWearing of standard personal protective equipment while on project sites\nCompensation and Benefits\nThe anticipated annual salary range for this position is $140,000 to $180,000 per year.
