Suncorp is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Analyst to join our CFO Insurance Finance team.\nThis role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career finance professionals looking to gain hands-on experience across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end processes while working alongside experienced finance professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment.\nWhat you'll be doing\nSupport month-end finance activities, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of financial results.\nPrepare and process accounting journals, reconciliations, and variance investigations.\nProactively investigate and resolve data variances and reconciliation issues.\nAssist with monthly management reporting, Board reporting, and Half-Year and Full-Year external reporting activities.\nContribute to forecasting and budgeting activities through financial analysis and insights.\nIdentify and implement process improvements to simplify reporting and improve processes, contributing to transformation and continuous improvement activities.\nPartner with stakeholders across Finance & Advice to support performance reporting and business decision-making.\nDevelop an understanding of key business drivers, trends, and financial performance outcomes.\nWhat we're looking for\nEssential\nDegree qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.\nUp to 2 years' experience in accounting, finance, business analysis, or analytical roles.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.\nInquisitive mindset with the ability to identify trends, investigate variances, and deliver meaningful insights.\nAdvanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems and reporting tools.\nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively while managing competing priorities and delivering accurate work within tight deadlines.\nA continuous improvement focus, with the capability to identify efficiencies and enhance reporting, processes and controls.\nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.\nInterest in financial services and a desire to build a long-term career in finance.\nDesirable\nProgress towards, or interest in pursuing, professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, or CFA.\nExposure to financial services, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, or decision support activities.\nExperience with tools such as Oracle, TM1/Cognos, or Power BI.\nKnowledge of General Insurance financial reporting and/or IFRS17.\nUnderstanding of the financial services industry and its key business drivers.\nWhat You'll Enjoy\nAccess our award-winning Shine platform - your central hub for exclusive perks, wellbeing support, career development, and recognition.
