This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people, building trust and creating opportunities for growth. What you'll be doing
As our next Business Development Manager, you'll manage and grow a portfolio of broker partners across Auckland and the Upper North Island, helping to drive profitable growth whilst delivering exceptional service and support.
No two days are the same, but you can expect to:
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with brokers and become their go-to contact.
- Identify opportunities to grow business across your portfolio and increase product penetration.
- Develop and execute account plans that deliver strong commercial outcomes.
- Influence broker placement decisions through trusted partnerships and market expertise.
- Work closely with underwriting teams to secure competitive solutions for brokers and customers.
- Support brokers with complex submissions, major renewals and new business opportunities.
- Promote the Vero brand, products and capabilities in market.
- Monitor market trends and share insights that help shape regional growth strategies.
- Travel regularly to maintain strong broker relationships and market presence.
What you'll bring
Success in this role comes down to your ability to build meaningful relationships, identify growth opportunities and deliver results.
You'll bring experience in business development, relationship management, account management or a similar commercial role, along with a proven ability to influence stakeholders and achieve outcomes. You're commercially minded, customer-focused and comfortable managing your own portfolio while collaborating across teams.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience in business development, sales, account management or relationship management.
- A track record of successfully growing and maintaining client, broker or partner relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify mutually beneficial growth opportunities.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
- Experience within commercial insurance, financial services, banking or a related industry.
- Knowledge of the New Zealand broker market will be highly regarded.
Why join us?
At Suncorp, you'll be part of a team that genuinely supports one another and celebrates success together.
We offer:
- Flexibility through a hybrid working model.
- Autonomy to manage your portfolio and schedule.
- A collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- The opportunity to work with one of New Zealand's leading insurance brands.
- Ongoing learning, development and career progression opportunities.
- A role where you can make a tangible impact on brokers, customers and communities.
Most importantly, you'll join a business that's focused on doing the right thing for customers while helping our people grow and succeed. We're committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome, valued and empowered to bring their whole selves to work.
