Join us!\nPOSITION SUMMARY\nPlan, organize, mentor, and direct engineering staff to meet company objectives for design of new products, process development and improvement, design changes, and cost savings projects. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and direct work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving departmental issues.\nPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS\nThe specific minimum competencies needed to perform the essential duties of the job include knowledge, skills, abilities, level of education, and experience necessary for successful performance. These competencies are generally demonstrated through specific service, education, or training.\nKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:\nProcess knowledge of fundamental plastics processes (Injection molding, extrusion, RF welding, heat sealing, ultrasonic welding, solvent bonding, dip molding, and assembly), equipment, and instruments used in various types of engineering along with knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations and governmental practices is required.\nBasic understanding of automation processes as it relates to assembly activities, vision systems for inspection, and high speed packaging equipment. \nKnowledge of injection mold design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair, along with machine shop operations, machining processes, tooling, and safety practices, to effectively oversee the Machine Shop Manager. \nAbility to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and apply advanced mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical concepts. \nAbility to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization both verbally and in writing. Great customer communications skills are required. \nPossess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. \nInterpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. \nAbility to manage and mentor technical staff is required.\nLevel of Experience:\n10-14 years of combined engineering and supervisory or management experience.\nLevel of Education:\nBachelor’s Degree in engineering required, MBA or equivalent preferred.\nFluent in English and Spanish both written and verbal. \nTravel:\nUp to 10%. Occasional Overnight.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nLine Manager Duties:\nProvide clear direction, coaching, and performance management to support team development and achievement of AirLife goals. \nAlign team’s objectives with AirLife priorities, ensuring compliance, promoting a culture of accountability, and upholding AirLife values. \nTake accountability and ownership for actively participating in recruitment processes and supporting fair treatment in disciplinary processes for your team. \nDrive continuous improvement by fostering innovation, operational excellence, and adoption of best practices within the team. \nChampion employee engagement, inclusion, and career development through regular check-ins, talent reviews, and succession planning. \nManage your team’s budget responsibly and exhibit financial accountability. \nIndividual Contributor Duties:\nMange the capital projects, review capital requirements, track spending and coordinate implementation with the different teams. \nOversee the injection molding machine shop, including participation in the design and development of new molds and management of mold maintenance and repairs.\nHire, train, and appraise staff effectively.\nManage engineering aspects of new and existing products, ensuring that department engineers.\nQualify and document product and process changes.\nInteract with other departments to resolve processing issues.\nDevelop, qualify, and implement new processes.\nPerform manufacturing training to ensure all associates involved with the product understand its use and requirements.\nActs as visible, professional, and dedicated representative of the Engineering Department and as a technical contact with various government agencies.\nManage Engineering budgets, create engineering procedures, approve drawings, procedures, Engineering Changes, specifications, and protocols/reports.\nPrioritize department activities and determine resource requirements.\nOther duties as required.\nOTHER RESPONSIBILITIES\nUphold and embody AirLife’s values in all aspects of work.\nDemonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in daily work; look for ways to improve and promote quality & safety. \nInspire the trust of others; treat people with respect and dignity and embrace the value of diversity.\nUse time efficiently; perform job accurately, thoroughly, and conserve Company resources to improve profits.\nContribute to building and maintaining a positive team environment.\nAssure all policies and guidelines are implemented and followed.\nQUALITY POLICY\nAt AirLife, Quality is our promise.
