Summary:\nThe Downline Operator I will be required to:\nOperate and learn the operations of the Downline Packaging equipment including Cap Applicator, Cardboard Case Packer, Accumulators, and learn basic functionality of the coders.\nEnsure efficient operation of distribution equipment and support maintenance activities on a consistent basis.\nFollow written and verbal instructions to ensure quality and efficiency standards are being met.\nAssume responsibility for safety, quality and effective communication relevant to shift and plant performance.\nFills in for vacations and or covers if other employees are absent.\nEssential Functions of the Job:\nComplies with Good manufacturing practices.\nMonitors and fixes faults as well as clearing any material jams in equipment.\nConducts required quality checks to assure standards are met.\nMaintain clean and organized area.\nMaintains communications within production team ensuring smooth shift transitions, etc.\nTroubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties involving area equipment.\nAssist with maintenance techs on routine maintenance and troubleshooting.\nSupport mechanics in appropriate maintenance activities.\nMonitor WIP material and supplies to ensure efficient production.\nBasic understanding of Oracle systems accurately scanning material being consumed.\nRelieve other production team members for breaks and absences as required.\nAccurately prepares and maintains all area codes and paperwork.\nSet up oncoming shifts for success leaving area clean, organized, and stocked.\nWear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.\nAll other duties, as assigned.\n\nKey Accountabilities:\nSafety\nAdheres to all plant safety rules.\nReports all near misses and accidents to the production supervisor and or HR representative.\nServes an active role the plant safety programs, by participating in monthly safety inspections and reporting any potential safety hazards to the safety committee or Management.\nQuality:\nAdheres to all Quality Assurance System guidelines.\nFollows SOP’s and SSOP’s (standard operating procedures and sanitation standard operating procedures) when making processing adjustments, to ensure the manufacturing of high-quality liquid-based products.\nResponsible for compliance with GMP’s, HACCP and SQF programs.\nIdentifies all critical control points (CCP) understanding their functions it relates to the process.\nMaintenance:\nWhen maintenance is occurring in your work area, it is the expectation to assist the Maintenance Technicians in any capacity needed to expedite the repair process.\nHousekeeping:\nMaintain a clean and organized work area.\nAssists all areas of the plant with general housekeeping.\nCooperates with other shifts and the management team in housekeeping endeavors.\nCommunications:\nAs a member of the Production team, ensures effective shift communication and teamwork with other operators occurs each scheduled shift.\nMaintains effective communication with members of the support group.\nWhen utilizing the handheld radios employees are expected to be professional and respectful when communicating.\nTeamwork and Training:\nPromotes and contributes to the development of a strong team.\nWorks well among co-workers as a team.\nAssist in coaching and training employees as requested by the management team.\nPersonal Development:\nContinuously improve your knowledge of the Aseptic Filling process.\nBecome familiar with SunOpta 360.\nCompletes and adheres to the Annual Alchemy Schedule.\n\nSupervisory Responsibilities:\nNone.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nHigh School diploma or GED.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nWorking knowledge of math and computers.\nAbility to work effectively in a team-based environment.\nAbility to set priorities in order to meet deadlines.\nAbility to work under pressure.\nAbility to work with limited supervision.\n\nKnowledge and Skills:\nMust be able to troubleshoot and resolve moderate to complex issues.\nMust have accurate and detailed record keeping and legible handwriting.\nUnderstands procedures for all allergens and how to prevent cross contamination.\nMust adhere to all GMP's and Safety Procedures established by Management.\nMust be able to stand (12) hours for long periods of time and lift a minimum up to 50lbs frequently.\nMust be able to move rolling tubs occasionally in excess of 100lb and push/pull pallet jacks with heavy loads.\nWork (12) hours as required as well as any overtime that may be scheduled when additional coverage is needed, maintaining a good attendance record.\nMust have good personal hygiene.\nPerforms the Quality Assurance checks on cartons and cases verifying the package integrity.\nGood communication and interpersonal skills lending to a team environment.\n\nAdditional Considerations:\nLocation: This position will be at the SunOpta Plant in Midlothian, TX.\nShift: This position will be a night shift role on a 2-2-3 pattern, 6 pm to 6:30 am.\nPay Rate: $23.00/hour.\nShift Differential: $2.00/hour for working a 12-hour night shift on a 2-2-3 pattern.\nWork Environment: This position will be in a plant/manufacturing
