Parent Educators will use the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program models (or other curricula as appropriate) to support parents as their child’s “first and most important” teacher.\nRESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES (including but not limited to):\nThe Parent Educator’s responsibilities chiefly falls within the following core functions, although they may perform other tasks as needed:\nEligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment and Attendance:Recruits families mostly in need of home-based early childhood services, including previously underserved populations from a defined recruitment area.\nDetermines the eligibility of children based on the program guidelines.\nEnrolls children and families based on enrollment criteria and maintains a waiting list of eligible children to enroll in the event of attrition.\nMaintains the funded enrollment level, fills vacancies as they occur, and analyzes enrollment data.\nAnalyzes the causes of absenteeism when families fail to participate in home visits or socialization.\nPlans and facilitates parent orientations to the program.\n\nQualifications\n Education & Work Experience\nMust have a minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent). \nMust have a home-based child development associate (CDA) or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate's or bachelor's degree. \n PreferredAssociate Degree (or Higher) in Social Work, Family Services, Counseling, or another closely related field is preferred.\nPrefer 1-2 years of case management experience.\nBilingual (English-Spanish) speaking and writing skills preferred.\n\n Skills & AbilitiesMust be bilingual (English/Spanish) to support our clients.\nMust be at least 21 years old, have held a driver's license for at least 3 years, and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment.\nMust maintain auto insurance on personal vehicles driven while completing job duties.\nMust be approved by SCF auto insurer to be added to corporate auto insurance policy.\nMust possess ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies and educational materials.\nMust be able to communicate clearly and use correct grammar both verbally and in writing using English.\nMust be organized, display strong time management abilities, and demonstrate an attention to detail to effectively meet client and program needs.\nMust understand and use the basic functions of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, & Excel), internet applications and other software to effectively access resources and complete required tasks.\nListen intently and ask questions to ensure full understanding.\nMust be available to work a flexible schedule to fulfill job functions and program responsibilities including occasional weekday evenings or weekend events (1-3 times per month).\nMust interact sensitively, effectively, and professionally with persons from diverse backgrounds, especially parents of children in SCF’s programs.\nMaintains a positive, open, and objective attitude towards others including volunteers and interns.\nWilling to engage, support, include and work with volunteers and/or interns on an on-going or as needed basis. \nMust demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and work independently with limited direction from supervisors.\nRequired to properly utilize knowledge of policies and procedures mandated by the HIPPY Program and SCF.\nMust acquire CPR/First Aid Training for Infant/Child/Adult within ninety (90) days of hire date and maintain throughout employment.\nMust submit to and pass a criminal background check prior to hire date.\nMust submit negative TB results (One-Step Skin Test or Chest X-Ray) prior to hire date and submit every 2 years of
