Position Summary

The Landscape Installation Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of installation field crews, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in alignment with Sunrise Landscape’s quality and client service standards. This role partners closely with Project Managers, General Manager, purchasing team, Irrigation Superintendent and Talent Acquisition team to execute residential and commercial installation projects from site preparation through final walkthrough.

The Superintendent plays a critical role in driving crew productivity, material efficiency, installation quality, and operational execution to support profitability goals and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

As one of our Landscape Installation Superintendents, you will have the following areas of responsibility:

Leadership & Crew Oversight

• Directly supervise installation field crews, ensuring productivity, safety, and adherence to design specifications.
• Conduct daily start-ups and end-of-day reviews with crews to review work plans, production goals, and next-day readiness.
• Train and coach crew leaders and laborers in safe work practices, quality expectations, and efficient installation methods.
• Monitor timecards, attendance, and crew allocation to ensure labor hours align with project budgets.
• Partner with Project Managers to plan workload and resource needs, including equipment, staffing, and materials.
• Enforce company safety policies, participate in job site inspections, and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
• Set clear performance expectations and maintain accountability for crew performance.

Project Coordination

• Review project plans, schedules, and layouts in coordination with the Project Manager prior to job start.
• Oversee site preparation, layout, and sequencing of installation activities.
• Ensure materials, including sod, plantings, and hardscape materials, are on site and match project specifications.
• Communicate daily with Project Managers and/or Engineers regarding progress, potential delays, and resource needs.
• Document field conditions, weather impacts, and daily accomplishments through photos and reports.
• Verify all change orders and extra work requests (EPOs) with Project Managers before proceeding.
• Conduct quality checks throughout the installation process to ensure work meets client and Sunrise Landscape standards.
• Anticipate project issues, identify root causes, and implement timely solutions.

Financial & Operational Accountability

• Manage daily and weekly production goals in alignment with labor budgets.
• Track material usage to ensure accuracy against buyout sheets and minimize waste.
• Review payroll and job cost data for accuracy and partner with Project Managers to identify variances.
• Support profitability goals by promoting efficiency, reducing rework, and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Maintain strong operational discipline to support scheduling accuracy and project success.

Client & Team Communication

• Represent Sunrise Landscape professionally with builders, site superintendents, and clients on job sites.
• Support Project Managers with site meetings, punch list reviews, and client walkthroughs as needed.
• Provide clear, respectful, and professional communication with internal and external partners.
• Maintain a cooperative, team-oriented work environment across departments and field crews.
• Build trust with clients through responsiveness, quality execution, and professionalism.

Post-Construction / Warranty Support

• Assist in final walkthroughs and completion of punch lists.
• Verify field conditions for warranty claims and coordinate any required corrective work.
• Support post-installation service and warranty crews as needed to ensure client satisfaction.

Qualifications & Core Competencies

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or technical training in horticulture, construction, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in landscape installation or construction, including supervisory experience.
• Strong working knowledge of landscape construction, irrigation, grading, and plant installation.
• Heavy equipment experience
• Proven ability to lead and motivate field crews to achieve production, quality, and safety goals.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, site plans, and layouts.
• Native plant knowledge
• Basic computer literacy and comfort using scheduling and job tracking tools such as Aspire or Excel.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, train, and develop field teams.
• Strong commitment to quality workmanship, efficiency, and client satisfaction.
• Strong safety orientation with the ability to enforce company and OSHA safety standards.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and squat for prolonged periods throughout the day.
• Ability to use hand tools for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift 30+ pounds multiple times per day in hot temperatures.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions including heat, high humidity, and rain.

Driver Qualifications

To qualify as a Driver, in addition to the above, you must:

• Possess a valid driver’s license issued in the United States for a minimum of three years.
• Maintain a clean driving record for at least three years.
• Successfully pass a drug screening.

The compensation for this role is competitive and ranges from $65,000 / $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
