About Sunrun

Since 2007, Sunrun has grown into America's #1 home solar and battery company. We got here by putting our people’s safety and growth first. That’s why we created the Power+ program: to invest in your skills. We train you to work across different teams-from qualifying homes for solar, to installing, to inspecting the final work, and servicing existing systems. This versatility helps limit reduced hours and enhances job security in an industry affected by seasons. It also means you can solve customer problems in one visit, keeping you safely off the road and moving your career forward.

Overview

The Hybrid Field Technician supports both the beginning and end of the residential solar installation pipeline by performing site assessments prior to installation, inspections post-install, and other lone worker and team field work as needed for the business. This role is critical in ensuring that every project begins with accurate data and ends with a successful final inspection.

You’ll follow dynamic, intraday schedules and work across a variety of job sites, helping ensure each system meets both internal standards and local code requirements. This is a fast-paced, field role ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, customer interaction, and making a daily impact on operational flow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit customer homes to collect detailed measurements, photographs, and structural/electrical data required for solar design.

  • Accurately assess roof conditions, electrical service panels, and property features using standardized tools and protocols.

  • Work with the AHJ and Customer to schedule inspections

Schedule Execution & Field Readiness

  • Communicate clearly with internal teams when facing access issues, delays, or discrepancies.

  • Maintain assigned tools and safety equipment in proper working condition.

  • Represent the company professionally during all customer-facing interactions.

Additional Expectations

  • Flexibility in working occasional weekends, extended shifts or holidays may be required based on market demand or customer scheduling needs.

  • Participation in safety briefings, training, or field team huddles.

  • Comfortable working on roofs, using ladders, and working in tight or elevated spaces.
