The specific schedule is arranged with the department.\nPay: $20 to $27 per hour, W2.\nLocation: Tempe, Arizona 85281. 100 percent onsite.\n\nDuration: November 2, 2026 through June 30, 2027.\nTwo positions are open.\nThe role performs detailed analytical accounting and reporting for assigned accounts. \nYou would reconcile account balances, create journal entries, manage fixed assets and record depreciation, assist with the month end and year end close, and run reports from the financial system, the payroll system and subsystems. You would also review employee travel requisitions for cost effectiveness.\nDay to day:\n\nMaintain and reconcile a variety of ledgers and accounts, examine transactions for accuracy and correct records as needed.\n\nPrepare transactions across general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets and property taxes.\n\nPrepare and review input data for monthly financial reports, including general ledger reclassifications and month end journal entries.\n\nResearch and resolve cash reconciling items between the general ledger, the bank and accounting subsystems.\n\nMonitor financial transactions and maintain internal controls.\nRequired. Please do not apply unless you have these:\nExperience with governmental accounting.\nProficiency in PeopleSoft, Workiva, Debtbook and Microsoft Excel.\nMicrosoft 365 experience.\nAt least one year of accounting or related experience.\nWorking knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial statement preparation, tax regulations and compliance, and cost accounting and budgeting.\nAlso needed: the ability to work independently and as part of a team, to maintain confidentiality, to keep complete and accurate records, to adapt as regulations and policies change, and to write clear and concise reports.\nThis position requires a background check.\nYou must currently live in Arizona and your resume must state your current city.
