That makes this a pivotal moment to join the team and help shape how we build privacy into everything we ship.\nYou’ll partner across Product, Engineering, Security, and the broader legal team, accelerating great ideas with trust by design. You’ll advise on a wide range of global privacy laws and on sensitive data, including children’s and biometric data. In a small, high-visibility team, your work will directly influence strategic decisions across the company. This is the perfect role for someone who thrives in the space between principles and action, and who is known for finding the “yes, if…”\nAs a Privacy Counsel on the Privacy Legal Team at Superhuman, you will:\nAdvise product, engineering, and business teams on data privacy, security, and compliance requirements across the product lifecycle\n\nProvide practical and actionable legal guidance regarding risks and obligations under global laws related to data protection, biometrics, children’s privacy, marketing/advertising, and regulatory engagement (including GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, HIPAA and U.S. state laws)\n\nSupport, advise on, and drive cross-functional technical implementation for horizontal privacy compliance work, including related to sensitive data types, children’s privacy, and biometric processing\n\nOversee privacy impact assessments and proactively identify and address potential privacy risks\n\nDevelop and maintain guidance, privacy policies, internal guidelines, and compliance frameworks\n\nDesign and deliver privacy and data protection training for internal teams\n\nSupport privacy M&A diligence and integration\n\nTrack industry developments and best practices related to privacy in SaaS, AI, and cloud technologies\n\nQualifications\nJD and membership in good standing with at least one US state bar\n\n5+ years of relevant privacy counseling experience, preferably at a major technology company, B2B SaaS provider, or top law firm\n\nFamiliarity with B2C and B2B SaaS, AI, and cloud platforms; experience with international privacy compliance\n\nDeep knowledge of privacy, security, and data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)\n\nExperience working with business stakeholders like Product, Engineering, and Security in a fast-paced environment\n\nExcellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills\n\nCIPP or other privacy certification is a plus\n\nExperience with industry-specific privacy regulations (e.g., COPPA, FERPA, BIPA, CUBI, HIPAA, AADC).\n\nPassionate about the intersection of technology, law, and business.\n\nStrong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.\n\nDemonstrated ability to translate complex issues or problems into direct, actionable guidance.\n\nDemonstrated ability to support and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.\n\nA history of developing a culture of getting to “yes, if…”\n\nA team player who leads with humility and a healthy sense of humor.\n\nCompensation and Benefits\nSuperhuman offers all team members competitive pay along with a benefits package encompassing the following and more:\nExcellent health care (including a wide range of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and fertility benefits)\n\nDisability and life insurance options\n\n401(k) and RRSP matching\n\nPaid parental leave\n\n20 days of paid time off per year, 12 days of paid holidays per year, two floating holidays per year, and flexible sick time\n\nGenerous stipends (including those for caregiving, pet care, wellness, your home office, and more)\n\nAnnual professional development budget and opportunities\n\nBase pay may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
