Our Operations unit is responsible for ensuring that the business has the technical capability and capacity to deliver services to all Superloop customers ranging from Home Broadband to International Wholesale.\n\nRole Purpose\nThe overarching objective of the Network Engineer - Edge Network is to ensure the smooth operation of Superloop’s Layer 2 and Layer 3 edge networks, delivering maximum performance and availability for all customers.\nThe role is primarily responsible for building, supporting and maintaining network devices and related services across Superloop’s edge networks, with a focus on residential and business service network platforms.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn and/or assist with the operation of Superloop’s Layer 2 and Layer 3 edge networks.\n\nLiaise with customers, internal stakeholders, teams and suppliers to resolve network faults escalated by the Superloop Network Operations Centre (NOC).\n\nTroubleshoot, diagnose and resolve network hardware and software faults by engaging with vendor Technical Assistance Centres (TACs), replicating faults in a lab environment and preparing hardware and software fault documentation.\n\nManage edge network architectures, including lifecycle management, capacity planning and network optimisation.\n\nAssist with the development and support of network automation tools.\n\nCreate and maintain low-level design documents (LLDDs), high-level design documents (HLDDs), concept of operations documents (ConOps) and network diagrams.\n\nManage national hardware spares for edge networks.\n\nAssist with and collaborate on network commissioning, migrations and decommissioning activities.\n\nEnsure effective controls, processes and contingency plans are in place by completing network risk assessments and maintaining process documentation.\n\nAdhere to all network security standards across projects and operational tasks.\n\nMaintain current knowledge of industry trends and best practices.\n\nManage internal relationships with the NOC, Provisioning Engineering and Pre-Sales teams.\n\nQualifications and Experience\nEssential\nA degree in Telecommunications, Data Networking or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification.\n\nAt least three years’ experience in network design or engineering, or in a Level 2 or higher network support or escalation role.\n\nExcellent understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 networks, including internet routing and carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT).\n\nExcellent understanding of IP/MPLS routing and forwarding, including IS-IS, BGP, LDP and RSVP.\n\nExcellent understanding of Layer 3 protocols and L3VPNs.\n\nExcellent understanding of Layer 2 protocols and L2VPNs.\n\nGood understanding of subscriber management protocols, including DHCPv4, DHCPv6, PPPoE, PPPoL2TP and RADIUS.\n\nAt least three years’ experience operating a Cisco network.\n\nAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.\n\nStrong customer service focus.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.\n\nSound project management skills.\n\nDesirable\nAt least two years’ experience working in a service provider or edge network environment.\n\nExperience operating a Juniper or Arista network.\n\nStrong documentation skills.\n\nExperience with and knowledge of Python or Ansible.\n\nGood understanding of EVPN.\n\nGood understanding of Observium and/or Grafana.\n\nCCNP certification, or equivalent experience or certification, is highly regarded.\n\nOn Offer\nFree Home Broadband\n\nFree Mobile SIM plan\n\nFlexibility - 3 days/week in the office\n\nLunch on Wednesdays, snacks, donuts and more!\n\nDiverse and inclusive culture\n\nGain skills and build relationships to succeed in the telco and tech industries, at Superloop and beyond.\n\nAt Superloop, we’re dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to be who they are.
