As a Sr. Presales Storage Solution Engineer with Supermicro's FAE org, you’ll sit at the intersection of customers, engineering, and cutting-edge infrastructure, designing high-impact solutions that go straight into production at massive scale. If you love owning complex problems end-to-end, influencing real deployments, and working with teams that move fast and build boldly, this is the kind of role people wish they joined a year earlier.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nIncludes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):\nLead, mentor, and scale a team of Field Application Engineers (FAEs) to drive technical excellence, customer success, and revenue growth across assigned accounts.\nServe as the primary technical solution architect for enterprise and Fortune 1000 customers, designing and presenting optimized end-to-end storage and system architectures that strengthen account penetration and long-term loyalty.\nPartner closely with Sales and cross-functional teams to translate customer business and partner requirements into scalable, high-performance hardware and software solutions.\nProvide technical leadership across the full lifecycle-pre-sales design, proof-of-concept development, deployment, and post-sales implementation oversight.\nEngage directly with C-level and senior technical stakeholders to build trusted advisor relationships and influence strategic technology decisions.\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex system issues across hardware, firmware, drivers, OS, and application layers, including hands-on debugging and root cause analysis.\nLead cross-department engineering teams during product development, field escalations, and critical customer issue resolution.\nDevelop and deliver technical proposals, bid responses, architecture reviews, and customer presentations that clearly articulate value and differentiation.\nRepresent the company brand and solution messaging through on-site visits, technical workshops, and executive briefings to ensure successful solution integration and customer satisfaction.\nTravel up to 25% to support customer engagements and deployments.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.\n8+ years of experience in compute/storage servers, datacenter infrastructure, or enterprise IT environments.\nDeep expertise in x86 server architecture, hardware systems design, diagnostics, and performance troubleshooting.\nWorking knowledge of firmware, Linux, Windows, and virtualization platforms across complex production environments.\nStrong technical leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to drive investigations and influence stakeholders at all levels.\nThrives in fast-paced, high-pressure customer environments with strong business judgment and problem-solving capability.\nSalary Range\n$150,000 - $185,000\nThe salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role.
