You have exceptional knowledge and qualifications to support a payroll team.\nPayroll Lead Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:\nEight (8) + years’ experience in full cycle payroll; with 2-3 of those years as a lead/supervisor.\nExperience in the construction industry is an asset. Experience in a unionized payroll environment is an asset.\nPayroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is required.\nCertified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is an asset.\nCompletion of post-secondary education in Accounting or Business is an asset.\nProficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Specifically strong in Excel).\nExcellent knowledge of payroll principles and practices.\nFamiliarity with Service Canada processes and procedures.\nAdvanced knowledge of income tax forms, ROE’s, T4’s, health benefits programs, vacation pay, RRSP, Pensions, WCB, etc.\nKnowledge and working understanding of the Alberta Employment Standards Code.\nProven leader with strong coaching and mentoring skills.\nHigh degree of quality in regards to; attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.\nAbility to keep a high level of confidentiality.\nExcellent analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communications skills.\nExtremely reliable, mature and professional.\nHighly resourceful, intuitive and flexible.\nAbility to work independently and multitask, as well as work effectively in a team environment.\nStrong aptitude for Payroll systems, experience with Explorer Contract Manager is an asset.\nPayroll Lead Functions/Responsibilities:\nLead full-cycle hourly payroll ensuring pay for employees is accurate and on-time; payroll cycles are bi-weekly pay runs.\nLead two (2) Collective Bargaining Agreements within the payroll system and ensure the organization is complying with those agreements.\nProvide leadership to the payroll team and oversee the day-to-day operations and effectiveness of the payroll staff.\nReconcile account balances for the purpose of maintaining accurate reporting and complying with related policies, practices and/or regulations.\nResearches discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. time sheets, leave time, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing.\nProfessionally responds to questions and provide information to managers, staff, and departments on payroll matters.\nMaintains awareness of current payroll legislation and coordinates policy, system and or other required changes as they develop.\nLead government remittances and provides summaries and reports.\nYear end T4 balancing and reporting.\nThis is a general responsibilities list and does not include all responsibilities required of the position.\nSureway Construction Group of Companies adheres to employment equity and equal opportunity programs and encourages all women, visible minorities, Aboriginals and disabled persons to apply.
