About Surface Labs

Surface Labs is an applied AI lab building AI-native infrastructure for B2B go-to-market teams. We operate two products today:

• Lead Operations Center - unifies lead capture, qualification, routing, follow-ups, and long-term nurture so marketers spend 80% less time on manual ops and more time converting leads into revenue.

• Content Operations Center - AEO/GEO monitoring, AI search visibility tracking, and AI-powered content pipelines that help B2B brands dominate ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot results.

We're live in production with Surface AI agents processing 50K+ leads monthly, are backed by YC/Garry Tan and Dharmesh Shah (co-founder of HubSpot), and just doubled our team size in the last 2 months across Engineering, Design, and GTM.

The Role

You'll use AI to ship ads for Surface Labs. Static creatives, video ads, landing pages, all of it.

We give you the ad budget. We give you the AI tools (Claude, Remotion, Midjourney, Runway, all covered). We give you the brand, the product, and the audience. Your job: run ads that actually convert into closed revenue.

If you can do that, you get paid commission on every sale your ads drive. If you can do it consistently, you convert to a full-time Ad Engineer role with a real base salary, equity, and ongoing commission.

This is a high-trust, high-upside role. No babysitting. No busywork. Just real budget, real AI tools, and real results.

What You'll Actually Do

• Ship 20+ ad creatives per week (static + video) using Claude, Remotion, Midjourney, Runway, and similar AI tools
• Build and iterate on landing pages in Framer/Next.js that convert ad traffic into leads
• Run live campaigns across Meta, Google, LinkedIn, and Reddit with real Surface Labs budget ($5K to $20K/mo)
• Write ad copy, hooks, and CTAs at scale. Test dozens of variants weekly
• Track performance across CPC, CVR, CAC, and pipeline influenced
• Iterate weekly based on what actually drives closed revenue

**No fancy marketing degrees required. Just AI fluency, sharp creative instincts, and the discipline to let data decide.**

Who You Are

• Based in the US (SF Bay Area preferred) or India (any city)
• Power user of AI creative tools: Claude, Midjourney, Runway, Remotion, ElevenLabs, Sora, whatever works
• Have shipped ads before (personal brand, side project, freelance, agency, internship, any ads count, show us)
• Opinionated about what makes a hook stop the scroll
• Comfortable with ad dashboards (Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager)
• Ship fast, test everything, let the data decide
• Comfortable betting on yourself. This is commission-only during the internship
• Students, recent grads, career switchers, freelance marketers, all welcome

Bonus: You've run campaigns with real budget ($1K+/mo), built landing pages in Framer/Webflow/Next.js, done CRO work, or have a TikTok/Reels account that actually gets views.

Comp

During the 3-month internship (pure commission):

• We give you the ad budget ($5K to $20K/mo, scaling with performance)

• We give you the AI tools: Claude, Midjourney, Runway, Remotion, Figma, Framer all covered

• You get paid commission on every sale your ads drive

Commission structure:

• US-based interns: 15% of first-year ACV on every deal directly sourced by your ads. Realistic OTE if you're hitting: $100K to $200K/year.

• India-based interns: 15% of first-year ACV on every deal directly sourced by your ads. Realistic earnings if you're hitting: ₹150K to ₹300K/month.

On conversion to full-time Ad Engineer (end of month 3):

• Base salary: $80K to $140K (US) / ₹15L to ₹25L per year (India)
• Commission continues: 10% to 15% of ACV on attributed deals
• Equity: 0.10% to 0.30%
• Full benefits (health, dental, vision)

If your ads aren't converting by month 2, we have an honest conversation and part ways amicably. No hard feelings. This role is hard and not everyone hits.
