The Hospital Security Officer is responsible for the surveillance of the client's healthcare premises and the protection of the staff, members, and visitors. A Hospital Security Professional detects and prevents any suspicious activity, observes and reports incidents, and provides customer service in a friendly and professional manner\nQUALIFICATIONS\nPossess a high school diploma or equivalent\n2 years security or law enforcement preferred\n2 years healthcare or education preferred\nDriver’s License Class C\nMust pass drug testing and criminal background check.\nPrior work experience involving dealing with customers, troubleshooting, and/or managing stressful situations\nComplete the Level II training course\nFirst Aid/CPR/AEC Certification within 60-days of employment and maintain certification throughout employment\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nEnsures the safety of patients, staff and visitors.\nEscorts visitors, patients, and staff to and from parking areas.\nAssists motorists who become stranded on facility property.\nProvides continuous monitoring of central mechanical plant equipment through hourly rounding.\nProvides continuous monitoring of building HVAC equipment through remote online Building Automation System.\nReports any building maintenance issues found on hourly rounding in the facility work order request portal.\nReports any urgent building maintenance concerns to the maintenance on call phone number.\nChecks buildings and assigned areas to ensure safety and security providing walkthroughs of patient occupied units.\nConducts search of grounds, buildings, vehicles and assists with unit searches for contraband.\nChecks perimeter fences, exit doors, fire extinguisher cabinets\nParticipate in safety/maintenance inspections on the buildings and grounds. Inspects electronic locks and security equipment.\nMonitors surrounding area for weather or hazards that could endanger the facility.\nResponds to all medical emergencies on campus as first responders with medical\nequipment for the emergency.\nExercises delegated statutory powers at the discretion of Superintendent.\nResponds immediately to dangerous or emergency situations.\nEnforces local laws and Hospital regulations.\nCollect statements, evidence, photos and video for proper documentation for the Special Investigators as needed\nEnforces parking and traffic regulations.\nConducts accident investigations.\nPatrols assigned areas, units, and buildings assigned.\nPrepares and submits appropriate reports in a timely manner.\nReports and logs all activities in the department logbook and department logs.\nMonitors and responds to fire and PPD alarms systems.\nMonitors video surveillance equipment both inside the buildings and on perimeter.\nProvides oral and written reports.\nObserve and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity\nPatrol hospital and parking lot to check for unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized individuals\nOrally and physically de-escalating individuals, as needed\nInspect all security devices and fire control equipment\nRespond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, or inclement weather with calm urgency\nMay also include patient escort, patient watch, and provide safety escort\nParticipates in security and safety training\nAttends Hospital in-service sessions as assigned.\nAssists with yearly mandated fire safety training for all Hospital employees.\nResponds to all fire alarms or calls on campus.\nParticipate in evacuation and fire drills monthly\nInspect alarms, extinguishers, standpipes and hydrants.\nAssists as needed according to rules, regulations and department / Hospital policies, investigations and arrests.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
