The Team Lead, Coding role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on coding with team mentorship, quality oversight, and meaningful client interaction. You’ll help shape coding best practices, support coder growth, and collaborate closely with revenue cycle partners to ensure accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity-making a direct impact on both patient care data and organizational success.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:\nInterface with Clients and internal Revenue Cycle teams daily to assist with requests, questions, information, etc.\nAssist Coding Manager in client management, including emails, phone calls, and video meetings with client staff as well as physicians\nAssist Coding Manager related to denial management and coding reviews with clients to help drive client education and satisfaction\nHelp support Coding leadership in addressing and managing client escalations and concerns\nReviewing production coders work for quality\nProvide clear, concise, and compliant written feedback to coders\nIdentify coder and/or documentation deficiencies and communicate them to the management team as needed\nParticipate in production coding daily as defined by management, based on department needs\nSupports the importance of accurate, complete and consistent coding practices for the production of quality healthcare data.\nAdheres to the ICD-9/ICD-10 coding conventions, official coding guidelines approved by CPT, AMA, AAOS, and CCI.\nUses skills and knowledge of the currently mandated coding and classification systems, and official resources to select the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes.\nAssigns and reports the codes that are clearly supported by documentation in the health record.\nConsults physicians for clarification and additional documentation prior to code assignment when there is conflicting or ambiguous data in the health record.\nStrives for the optimal payment to which the facility is legally entitled.\nAssists and educates physicians and other clinicians by advocating proper documentation practices.\nMaintains and continually enhances coding skills. Coders need to be aware of changes in codes, guidelines, and regulations.
