Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary  

Manufacturing support for Coating Servicesincluding resolution of quality issues, equipment design and process improvements.   

Responsibilities   

LeadsOperationsProjects (70%)  

• Have overall responsibility for the successful technical outcome of the project 

• Designs and executes hands-on work with input fromteam members 

• Develops qualification and test protocols and executes experiments. 

• Uses software tools for data analysis and performs statistical analysis of data.  Evaluates and interprets experimental results inwritten reports. 

• Evaluates purchase of equipment and qualification strategy.  Qualify, integrate, and maintain manufacturingequipment.  Perform process and product qualification and validation 

• Identify process improvement (client or internally-driven) requirements 

• Prepare process improvement proposals including timeline and resource needs  

• Execute project and provide leadership to Operations team 

• Facilitate efforts to complete project tasks amongst shared internal resources and outside vendors   

• Execute, internal tech transfer, as recipient of processes, of projects to operations 

• Assist lower levelengineers and technicians. May have direct supervisory responsibilities 

Communicates results, progress, and issues to project teams and supervisor (20%)  

• Maintains complete, organized, and up-to-date records.   

• Provide prompt and professional updates 

• Prepares and presents oral and written reports 

• Interface with clients, independently in some cases, to assure successful execution of projects   

• Provide updates to management and track project budget and timeline 

Maintains an efficient and organized laboratory environment (10%)  

• Maintains manufacturingsupplies 

• Maintains critical equipment spare part inventories 

• Maintains equipment and documents maintenance activities 

Minimum Qualifications  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering  

• 5+years’ experience in process engineering.  Medical device industry preferred 

• Ability to apply analytical skills and scientific technical principles in problem solving and development  

• Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs  

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member

Surmodics determines base pay by evaluating market data, internal equity, skills, abilities and level of experiences for each unique, potential employee.

Targeted Salary Range

$90,686—$135,913 USD
