Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will manage teams balancing critical sustenance engineering-maintaining platform stability, security, observability, stack upgrades, and incident response-with steady-state new feature development. This role serves as the central engineering anchor and primary cross-functional liaison with Customer Operations, Customer Success, Technical Support Engineering, SecOps, and Infrastructure. If you take pride in operational excellence, reliability engineering, and leveraging modern AI/GenAI tools to drive engineering productivity, this is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-impact results.\nWhat you’ll be working on\nOwn end-to-end delivery, agile execution, and sprint planning across products, balancing new feature development with sustenance, stack migrations, and technical debt reduction.\n\nAct as the primary cross-functional engineering contact for Customer Operations, Customer Success, TSE, SecOps, Platform, and Product teams to align priorities and communicate technical trade-offs.\n\nDrive technical health, platform uptime, performance, vulnerability patching, dependency updates, and SLA compliance across high-risk code reviews and architecture decisions.\n\nOversee production support, triage workflows, incident management, on-call rotations, and root-cause analysis to systematically prevent recurring issues.\n\nHire, manage, coach, and retain engineers across multiple product teams, fostering a strong engineering culture and productivity standard.\n\nWe’d love to hear from people with\n10-12 years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in an engineering management role managing production, revenue-generating software across concurrent product lines.\n\nTrack record leading sustenance engineering, infrastructure/framework upgrades, dependency management, legacy system support, production incident management, and on-call operations.\n\nStrong full-stack technical background across languages such as PHP, Python, Java, Node.js, relational/non-relational databases, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.\n\nDemonstrated hands-on experience using AI/GenAI tools (e.g., coding assistants, automated code review, testing) to enhance engineering productivity and drive workflow improvements.\n\nProven capability to partner with Product Management to sequence capabilities and navigate competing demands from cross-functional business stakeholders.\n\nSurveyMonkey believes in-person collaboration is valuable for building relationships, fostering community, and enhancing our speed and execution in problem-solving and decision-making.As such, this opportunity is hybrid and requires you to work from the SurveyMonkey office in Bengaluru 1 day per week.\nWhy SurveyMonkey?
