Working within the trading systems development team, you’ll collaborate daily with developers and traders, improving application deployment, monitoring and operational reliability through Octopus Deploy, GitLab pipelines, Ansible, Python and PowerShell.\nWhat you’ll do\nBecome a subject matter expert in our in-house trading systems and the highly distributed microservices platform and architecture they run on\nCollaborate closely with trading system developers on design, releases, and operational readiness, so new features run reliably in production\nScope and build out new sites end-to-end, covering hardware, network, cluster deployment, and monitoring\nSupport, deploy, and troubleshoot microservices across our on-premises Service Fabric/Kubernetes environment\nTroubleshoot service-to-service communication (gRPC) and multicast data feeds across the platform\nAutomate deployments using Octopus Deploy, GitLab pipelines, and Ansible\nAutomate configuration and routine operational tasks using Python and PowerShell scripting\nSupport, build, and improve our monitoring and observability (metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerting) using tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK, so we get early warning of issues in our trading environment\nAct as the link between traders, in-house technology teams, and external parties (exchanges, vendors), keeping information on system issues and changes flowing\nFind ways to improve the stability, resilience, and reliability of our platform and trading environment through better use of technology\nDevelop automated system tests to validate releases before they go live\nKeep technical and user documentation up to date for the systems you support\nWhat we’re looking for\nA degree in Computer Science or a related technical field\nAt least 3 years of commercial experience in financial services or a similarly demanding production environment, ideally in trading or trading technology\nExperience supporting highly distributed, microservices-based systems in production\nStrong communication skills with technical and non-technical colleagues and external parties\nThe ability to handle tight deadlines and shifting priorities in a trading-room environment\nTechnical skills\nStrong Windows administration skills, including supporting and deploying applications on Windows servers\nHands-on experience with Service Fabric and/or Kubernetes, running microservices platforms in on-premises or hybrid environments\nExperience automating deployments with Octopus Deploy, GitLab pipelines, and Ansible (CI/CD)\nSolid understanding of highly distributed and microservices architectures, ideally including Microsoft Orleans, enough to trace and troubleshoot issues across services\nWorking knowledge of gRPC and Protobuf for service-to-service communication\nUnderstanding of multicast data feeds, and the ability to debug them and related protocols such as TCP/UDP\nScripting and automation experience in Python and PowerShell.
