We are a dual-use technology platform that supports both DoD and commercial customers in pursuit of our vision.\nJob Overview: We are hiring an Accounting Manager to run our day-to-day accounting operations. Our finance stack is built and operating - QuickBooks Online, Ramp, and Anrok, with documented processes and a clean close. Your job is to run it well, keep it accurate, and improve it as we scale. You will own the month-end close, general ledger integrity, and the transactional accounting cycle, reporting directly to the CFO. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in a fast, clean close and does not need to be told when the calendar is slipping.\nFor this position you must be local to Austin, TX and willing to be in office a minimum of 3 days a week.\nWhat you'll own:\nRun the monthly close end to end. Own the close calendar and deliver financials within 10 business days, with a path to tightening that as you ramp.\nOwn general ledger integrity, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.\nManage the full transactional cycle: accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense management, and payroll accounting.\nApply established revenue recognition policy across both commercial and government contracts, including billing and revenue schedules.\nProduce the monthly reporting package and supporting schedules that feed board and investor reporting.\nOwn monthly budget vs. actuals analysis, partnering with budget owners to explain variances, identify key drivers, and incorporate changes into the next forecast.\nAdminister and optimize our finance stack - QuickBooks Online for the GL, Ramp for spend and AP, Anrok for sales tax.\nOwn sales tax compliance, including nexus monitoring, registrations, and filings across jurisdictions.\nMaintain and improve the documented accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls already in place.\nPrepare audit-ready schedules and support requests; serve as the primary preparer for the annual audit under CFO direction.\nCoordinate with external tax and compliance partners on filings and information requests.\nIdentify what's slow, manual, or error-prone in the current process and fix it.\nWhat you'll bring:\n4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, including 1-2 years owning a monthly close.\nWorking knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls, with the judgment to know when a transaction needs to escalate.\nPublic accounting or audit experience (Big 4 or national firm preferred).\nCPA or CPA candidate preferred.\nStartup or high-growth company experience, ideally Series A/B.\nHands-on experience with QuickBooks Online and modern spend and tax automation tools. You are comfortable owning a finance stack and making it work harder.\nFluency with AI tools, particularly Claude, for budget vs. actuals commentary, ad hoc analysis, and other finance workflows. You use AI as a default productivity tool, know how to prompt it effectively, and apply sound judgment in validating the output before relying on it.\nMulti-state sales tax compliance experience, particularly for SaaS.\nGovernment or federal contract accounting exposure is a strong plus.\nPrecision, deadline discipline, and follow-through.
