Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our client, a company building a cloud-based platform for digital forensic investigations.
The platform brings together digital forensic tools, case management, evidence storage, and collaboration workflows to help investigators around the world uncover critical evidence faster. In this role, you’ll set technical direction for the team while staying hands-on across the entire stack, from React front-ends to C#/.NET services, distributed message-driven systems, and AWS infrastructure.
This is a Staff-level role for experienced full-stack engineers who already lead a team’s technical direction. You’ll mentor other engineers, drive architecture decisions, and lead how the team adopts AI-assisted development in everyday work.
Location: United States or Canada
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, most of it in full-stack roles covering both front-end and back-end systems.
- Current or recent technical leadership as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or owner of a production system’s core architecture, with a track record of mentoring engineers.
- Deep expertise in C#/.NET server-side development, including APIs, services, data access, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency with React and modern front-end development, including component design, state management, and responsive UI.
- Experience building distributed systems and microservices for cloud-native SaaS products at scale.
- Production experience with AWS.
- Working experience with Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, and Linux environments.
- Active, everyday use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar as part of your development workflow.
- Experience defining testing strategy and writing automated tests at various levels of abstraction.
- A track record of measurable impact on performance, reliability, or security.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort with navigating ambiguity and adapting in a fast-changing environment.
- Post-secondary education in software engineering, computer or electrical engineering, computer science, math, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Will be a plus
- Python or other programming languages, and shell scripting.
- Experience with distributed data stores and search systems such as Elasticsearch, Redis, or PostgreSQL JSONB.
- Observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
- Infrastructure-as-code (e.g., AWS CDK) and container-based deployment pipelines.
- Experience with message-driven systems and real-time features (e.g., WebSockets).
- Building integration platforms or partner APIs (REST, GraphQL).
- Experience bringing AI technologies into products, such as natural language search or agentic workflows.
- Background in security-conscious or highly regulated environments, including handling sensitive data.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical lead for the team: set technical direction, plan delivery, and unblock engineers.
- Analyze requirements, break down cross-team initiatives, and provide effort estimates and sequencing.
- Own the end-to-end architecture of robust, performant, and secure solutions across the stack.
- Develop efficient, modular, and maintainable software on both the front-end and back-end.
- Lead technical design through design docs, RFCs, and architecture decision records.
- Raise the bar in code reviews and mentor senior and intermediate engineers.
- Lead investigations into the most complex defects and production issues.
- Drive performance and security engineering, including performance testing and vulnerability scanning in CI/CD.
- Guide best practices for building, delivering, and maintaining multiple projects in Azure DevOps and on Kubernetes.
- Champion AI-assisted development and help the team adopt tools like Claude Code and Cursor effectively.
- Understand the needs of forensic investigators and use that knowledge to shape product and architecture decisions.
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders and build alignment across teams.
