You'll set technical direction across teams while staying hands-on across the stack, on a platform used by forensic investigators around the world.\nThis is a Staff-level role for experienced full-stack engineers who already lead a team's technical direction. You'll work alongside collaborative, customer-focused colleagues, mentor other engineers, and lead how our teams use AI-assisted development.\nNOTE: Candidates must reside in Canada or USA\nSome of the tools and technologies used across our teams include:\n.NET / C#;\nAWS;\nReact, TypeScript, HTML, CSS;\nREST and GraphQL APIs;\nAutomated testing (e.g. xUnit, Jest, PyTest);\nAzure DevOps, GitLab, Git, and Jenkins;\nPython;\nLinux and shell scripting;\nDocker and containerized services (e.g. Kubernetes);\nInfrastructure-as-code (e.g. CDK);\nDistributed, message-driven systems;\nElasticsearch and search/indexing systems;\nPrometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry;\nAI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.\nRequirements\n10+ years of professional software engineering experience, most of it in full-stack roles spanning both front-end and back-end systems;\nCurrent or recent technical leadership as a Tech Lead, Staff engineer, or owner of a production system's core architecture, with a record of mentoring engineers;\nPost-secondary education in software engineering, computer or electrical engineering, computer science, math, or a related field, or equivalent experience;\nExperience building distributed systems and microservices for cloud-native SaaS products at scale;\nDeep expertise in C#/.NET server-side development (APIs, services, data access, performance tuning);\nProficiency with React and modern front-end web development (component design, state management, responsive UI);\nProduction experience with AWS;\nWorking experience with Azure DevOps, Kubernetes and Linux environments;\nActive, everyday use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor as part of your development workflow;\nExperience defining testing strategy and writing automated tests at various levels of abstraction;\nA track record of measurable impact on performance, reliability or security;\nAbility to work cross-functionally, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and collaborate in a team environment;\nComfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting in a fast-changing environment.\nWill be a plus\nPython or other programming languages;\nShell scripting;\nDistributed data stores such as Elasticsearch, Redis, or PostgreSQL JSONB, and search/indexing systems;\nObservability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry;\nInfrastructure-as-code (e.g. CDK) and container-based deployment pipelines;\nDistributed, message-driven systems and real-time features (e.g. WebSockets);\nBuilding integration platforms or partner APIs (REST, GraphQL);\nAI technologies in products, such as natural language search and agentic workflows;\nExperience in security-conscious or highly regulated environments, including handling sensitive data.\nResponsibilities\nAct as technical lead for our team: set technical direction, plan delivery and unblock engineers;\nAnalyze requirements, break down cross-team initiatives, and provide effort estimates and sequencing;\nOwn the end-to-end architecture of robust, performant and secure solutions, from React front-ends to C#/.NET services, distributed message-driven systems and AWS infrastructure;\nDevelop efficient, modular, and maintainable software across the front-end and back-end;\nLead technical design through design docs, RFCs and architecture decision records;\nRaise the bar in code reviews and mentor senior and intermediate engineers;\nLead investigations into the hardest defects and production issues across the stack;\nDrive performance and security engineering, including performance testing and vulnerability scanning in CI/CD;\nGuide best practices for building, delivering and maintaining multiple source code projects in Azure DevOps and on Kubernetes;\nChampion AI-assisted development with tools such as Claude Code and Cursor, and help teams adopt it effectively;\nUnderstand the intent of the product and the needs of forensic investigators, and use that knowledge to make product design and architecture decisions;\nCommunicate clearly with technical and non-technical
