AI is at the heart of this position: you’ll architect AI and agentic capabilities into enterprise applications, decide what belongs in the platform and what belongs in dedicated AI services, and share your AI architecture expertise with the OutSystems team.\nEngagement: Full-time\nUS citizenship required. Active US security/secret clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one\nRequirements\n15+ years of professional experience in software engineering, solution architecture, and technical leadership. \nSeveral years of experience as a consultant at a consulting or IT services firm, delivering client-facing engagements for multiple customers.\nProven experience architecting AI and GenAI solutions delivered into production.\nDesign of LLM-powered applications, agents, and enterprise AI workflows, including orchestration, tool calling, and human approvals.\nRAG architecture: embeddings, vector search, chunking and retrieval strategy, and secure knowledge retrieval.\nModel selection, prompt and context management, structured outputs, and fallback strategies across providers such as Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, and AWS Bedrock.\nEvaluation, testing, monitoring, and tracing of AI systems in production, as well as AI guardrails and defenses against prompt injection and data exposure.\nSound judgment about when deterministic software is preferable to AI.\nSignificant experience architecting enterprise web and mobile applications.\nExperience leading development teams, including code reviews, engineering standards, and mentoring.\nHands-on development in one or more of C#/.NET, Java, Python, or TypeScript.\nStrong knowledge of REST APIs, event-driven integration, and enterprise integration patterns.\nSQL, relational data modeling, and performance optimization.\nApplication security: OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, and OWASP practices.\nCloud architecture on AWS or Microsoft Azure.\nFluent professional English, written and spoken.\nWill be a plus\nArchitecture or technical leadership on enterprise low-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform, Mendix, Appian, ServiceNow App Engine, Salesforce Platform, or Pega.\nUnderstanding of how low-code changes delivery: faster prototyping, model-driven development, and the trade-offs between platform features and custom code.\nAny exposure to OutSystems 11 (O11) or OutSystems Developer Cloud (ODC).\nExperience with LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, or comparable orchestration frameworks.\nModel Context Protocol (MCP) servers, clients, and tool integration patterns.\nVector databases such as Azure AI Search, OpenSearch, or PostgreSQL pgvector.\nDevSecOps, infrastructure as code, Docker, and Kubernetes.\nAWS or Azure architecture certifications, or AI engineering certifications.\nExperience in regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, healthcare, or government.\nDegree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.\nResponsibilities\nSolution architecture\nOwn the architecture of OutSystems solutions on O11 and ODC once trained.\nDesign modular, maintainable applications using OutSystems architecture practices such as the Architecture Canvas.\nDesign integrations with enterprise systems, APIs, and data sources.\nDefine data models, security, performance, scalability, and other non-functional requirements, and document architecture decisions.\nAI and agentic architecture\nArchitect AI capabilities into applications, including LLM integration, agents, tool calling, and RAG.\nCombine deterministic application logic with AI where each fits best.\nDesign evaluation, guardrails, human-in-the-loop controls, monitoring, and tracing for AI features.\nAssess OutSystems AI capabilities, such as Mentor and AI Agent Workbench, against external AI services and orchestration frameworks.\nManage AI risks, including prompt injection, data exposure, reliability, latency, and cost.\nTechnical leadership and delivery\nLead and mentor developers, set engineering standards, and review code.\nTranslate architecture into clear work packages, estimates, and technical priorities.\nWork with the Engagement Manager on planning, risks, dependencies, and scope.\nOwn the deployment and lifecycle approach, including environments and CI/CD.\nDefine the testing strategy, including automated testing and evaluation of AI features.\nTroubleshoot complex performance and production issues, and explain technical trade-offs to customer executives.\nKnowledge sharing\nLearn OutSystems architecture best practices from OutSystems Professional Services architects.\nShare AI architecture patterns, reference designs, and reusable components.\nRun knowledge-sharing sessions on AI architecture and AI-assisted engineering.\nOutSystems training you’ll receive\nOutSystems development on O11 and ODC, leading to developer certification.\nOutSystems architecture: the Architecture Canvas, modularity, and Architecture Dashboard.\nIntegration and custom code: Integration Studio in O11 and external logic in ODC.\nLifecycle management with LifeTime and the ODC Portal.\nOutSystems AI capabilities, such as Mentor and AI Agent Workbench.\nA path to OutSystems architecture
